๐Ÿ’œ Recognize an Unhealthy Relationship ๐Ÿ’œ

Not all unhealthy relationships leave visible scars. Sometimes the warning signs show up slowly, making them easy to overlook at first. You may begin to feel controlled, dismissed, or disconnected from the people and activities that matter to you. Over time, these experiences can affect your sense of safety and self-worth. Learning to recognize these patterns can help you better understand what a healthy relationship should feel like.

A healthy relationship should allow you to feel heard, valued, and free to be yourself. If you recognize any of these warning signs in your own relationship or in the life of someone you care about, know that support is available. At Southeastern Family Violence Center, we are here to help individuals and families affected by domestic violence by providing guidance, compassion, and hope to those who need it.๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’™ June is Men's Mental Health Month ๐Ÿ’™

Mental health affects every aspect of our lives, including how we cope with stress, connect with others, and navigate life's challenges. Yet many men struggle in silence. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), men account for nearly 80% of su***de deaths in the United States.

Research shows that 77% of men have experienced symptoms of mental health, such as depression, anxiety, or stress. However, 40% of men have never spoken to anyone, with 29% of those saying they were too โ€œembarrassedโ€ to speak about it.

This Men's Mental Health Month, Southeastern Family Violence Center is proudly standing alongside every man who has ever suffered in silence. We believe in the power of open conversation because every man deserves to be heard, every man deserves to feel supported, and no man should ever feel like he has to face his battles alone. ๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿซ‚

๐Ÿ’œWe are thankful for our community partners who have dedicated countless hours over the past two weeks to carefully prepare essential hygiene kits for those in need. Every client coming through the shelter doors will receive one of these kits. Each kit, filled with items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and soap, represents a beacon of hope and dignity for the individuals who will receive them, many of whom have escaped dire situations with nothing but the clothes they wear. Your efforts underscore the power of local action to change lives. Thank You! ๐Ÿ’œ Union Chapel Holiness Methodist Church, Family, and Friends, Jamie Goins, Mt. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. ๐Ÿฉต Many abusers choose to use some form of s*xual abuse in order to hurt or control a partner, but itโ€™s often the least discussed form of abuse โ€” especially if a victim is made to feel embarrassed or ashamed, or if they were taught that what theyโ€™re experiencing is โ€œnormal.โ€

Sexual abuse can be committed with outright physical force or violence, and it can also be committed with pressure, threats, and coercion. Being able to safely and freely consent to s*x (and to anything else!) is an essential part of any healthy relationship.

Forcing you to have s*x with other partners. Tampering with or refusing to use contraception. Taking or sharing intimate photos or videos of you without consent." NNEDV logo in bottom right.
