📣 We’re hiring a part-time Senior Therapist!

Canopy Center’s Oasis program is looking for an experienced therapist to help children and families heal from abuse and trauma while mentoring early-career clinicians.

If you value compassionate, trauma-informed care and want to support both children and fellow therapists, we’d love to hear from you.

As children grow, conversations about body safety should grow with them.

Teaching kids about boundaries, consent, and who they can turn to when something doesn't feel right helps them build confidence and feel safe speaking up.

These conversations don't have to happen all at once. Regular reminders can make a big difference.

Save this post for later and share it with another parent or caregiver! đź’ś

Consider this your invitation to add a note. đź’ś

Our encouragement wall holds messages of support for survivors, and we’d love to carry that support into the comments.

What would your note say? A few kind words, a reminder, or a simple “you deserve to feel safe” can be a place to start.

Leave your message below for someone who might need to read it today.

Body safety conversations should keep growing as children get older. đź’™

For children ages 3–6, everyday conversations can help reinforce body boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, what to do if something feels uncomfortable, and who they can go to for help.

These conversations can be simple and age-appropriate. Practicing “what if?” situations and reminding children that they can always talk to a trusted adult can help them feel more confident speaking up.

Parents and caregivers, what’s helped you talk about body boundaries with your little ones? Save this post and share it with another parent or caregiver. 📲

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a reminder that supporting families requires understanding the complex ways violence affects safety, relationships, and parenting - and how those experiences shape a family’s interactions with the court and child welfare systems.

At the Summit on Domestic Violence and Child Welfare, we had the opportunity to connect with systems and supports from across the state and our home counties, including Judge Trammell, Dane County CPS staff, and juvenile public defenders - to discuss ways to improve procedures and outcomes for families.

Nonprofits like Canopy Center are part of that work. Across our programs, we help children and families impacted by domestic violence navigate systems and access support. Through supervised visitation, we provide a structured setting that prioritizes children’s safety while supporting parent-child relationships. 💜

Body safety conversations can start earlier than you may think. đź’¬

For children ages 2–3, everyday moments can help teach simple ideas like personal space, consent, and respecting how someone else wants to show affection.

These conversations do not have to be big or complicated. Small, consistent reminders can help children understand that their body belongs to them and that their boundaries matter.

Save this post and share it with another parent or caregiver. 📤

Every child deserves someone who shows up, listens, and stays. đź’™

Thank you to the Widen Family Foundation for supporting Canopy Center’s CASA of Dane & Columbia Counties program! This grant will help us recruit, train, and support volunteers who build trusted relationships with children who have experienced abuse or neglect and advocate for their needs.

We're grateful for this continued partnership. The future is bright for all children.
