rations of Ryans; Paul, Connie, and Roman, Ryan & Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home has grown to meet the needs of Dane and its' surrounding counties. In 2000, the Ryan family acquired the Joyce Funeral Home in Verona and on Odana Road in Madison in order to assist our family’s needs on the growing west side of Madison. Joyce, Winifred O'Rourke's father. In 1954, William O'Rourke took the reins. William served the Madison and Verona areas for over 30 years before his passing. In 2006, The Ryan family built a new funeral home in DeForest to better serve the families of Windsor and DeForest. Also, in 2011, Ryan Funeral Home built a new state of the art facilty in Verona to better serve the families in that community. During a military funeral, the flag is carefully folded into a triangle, representing honor, duty, and remembrance. It is then presented to the next of kin as a lasting keepsake and a tangible expression of a grateful nation's appreciation.

Not everyone is eligible to receive a burial flag. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides burial flags for eligible veterans and certain members of the Armed Forces. The flag is typically draped over the casket or accompanies an urn during services before being presented to the family.

For many families, the flag becomes a treasured reminder of a loved one's commitment to serving something greater than themselves.
