Trying something unfamiliar during a time of loss can feel overwhelming.

Many families say what made the difference was having someone guide them with care and clarity.

“Brenda made everything feel less scary. She explained each part of the process in a way that helped us make decisions with confidence.”

Having the right support can turn uncertainty into peace of mind.

Have you ever visited a place that just felt different?

Families who choose green burial often share that feeling when they step into Natural Path Sanctuary in Verona. Prairie grasses, oak trees, birdsong, and winding paths create a space that feels alive and peaceful.

One family told us, “This felt like bringing him back home.”

It’s one of the reasons green burials are becoming such a meaningful choice in Madison.

Some days are meant for gathering.
Others are meant for remembering.

Today, we honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, their sacrifice, and the families who continue to carry their memory.

However you spend today, we invite you to pause and reflect.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Memorial Day.

What if a final farewell could feel more like coming home?

Across Madison, more families are choosing green burials, a natural, meaningful way to honor their loved ones while staying connected to the land that shaped their lives.

“There is something deeply peaceful about returning a person to the land… You can almost feel the stress lift from their shoulders.”
– Brenda Emerson, Green Burial Specialist

This isn’t just about sustainability. It’s about creating a goodbye that feels grounded, personal, and true.

Today, we honor all Mothers. We are grateful for the love, care, and devotion you provide. And to those who are missing your moms today, we see you.

Mother's Day can be a tender day and bring up grief for those who have lost their mothers or have mothers absent from their lives. May today bring loving memories and comfort.

Is there a teacher who left an impression on you? Have you ever thought of looking them up?

As we acknowledge Teacher Appreciation Week, this is a great opportunity to bring those memories to life. Spend some time reflecting on the impact they made on you.

And if they're still here, what if you reached out and sent them a note of appreciation? You may be surprised to find them on Facebook. If so, reach out. Share a memory and an acknowledgement. And if those teachers are no longer with us, take some time to reflect on what they taught you and who you are today because of their influence. A simple reflection and note go a long way.

To all of our teachers, thank you for the impact you create daily.

Yesterday was National Nurses Day. Nurses are near and dear to us. We have supported many families in planning for life's end and worked with many hospice care nurses to support them in some of the hardest times in life. To all of our Nurses, we acknowledge you and are so grateful for all the ways you support patients and families.

Where do you even begin when planning a meaningful service?

One of the most powerful starting points is this question: What mattered most to them?

From there, everything else begins to take shape. The setting, the details, the feeling of the day.

A meaningful service does not have to be elaborate. It just needs to feel aligned with who they were.

We shared more on how to create a service that feels true and intentional in our latest blog. https://www.ryanfuneralservice.com/blog/article/creating-a-meaningful-green-funeral-service-

This Earth Day, many families are thinking about how their values can be reflected in every stage of life, including the end.

Green burials offer a way to return to the earth naturally, without chemicals or materials that impact the environment.

It is a choice rooted in:

• Simplicity
• Sustainability
• A deep respect for nature

For some, it is also a way to leave behind a legacy that aligns with how they lived.

If you are curious about green burial options or want to learn more, we are here to guide you.

What makes a service truly meaningful?

Often, it is not just what happens, but how people are invited to be part of it.

We have seen families create beautiful moments through shared stories, music, quiet reflection, or simple rituals like placing flowers or spending time together outdoors.

These moments bring people closer and create space for connection and healing.

If you are thinking about how to make a service more personal, we talk more about this in our latest article - https://www.ryanfuneralservice.com/blog/article/creating-a-meaningful-green-funeral-service-
