Our October trip to deliver food and other supplies was another success! Our MM team of Dr. Irwin and volunteer George drove to meet the Rocklick Pantry team. They met halfway to unload our trailer to their pantry truck. Gerry and BJ were so happy to see Dr. Irwin and George!

The Grundy community is so very grateful for the generous donors who support this project!

On a recent rainy Saturday Dr. Irwin and our team set up shop at the PWC Fire and Rescue Expo and Fall Festival. They were there to offer the public information on our work but also about safety and preparedness in general. Great teamwork! If you were there let us know what you thought!

Medical Missionaries received word recently that St. Joseph Clinic in Thomassique, Haiti was given 54 boxes of Medika Mamba for the clinic’s nutrition program for at-risk babies. The donation came from World Vision. Each of the boxes contains 150 small sachets which will provide over 8,000 treatments!

Media Mamba translates to “peanut butter medicine “ in Haitian Creole. It is made from ground peanuts, powdered milk, sugar, oil and a specialized blend of vitamins and minerals. A standard 6-12 week course recovers 90% to 92% of severely malnourished children and has long been a successful and vital program at the Clinic.

The video shows the boxes being unpacked at the Clinic by their staff.

Thank you to St. Joseph’s staff for their perseverance in caring for their community, especially the mothers and babies.

Medical Missionaries always appreciates feedback on how we are doing. We recently received this beautiful letter of thanks:

“Thank you for working closely with me
And Saint Jude Hawling regarding my donations. Your work around the world warms my heart. So grateful for you and the others at your Manassas location.”

This note was accompanied by a very generous check in support of our work.

We remain grateful for every donation and each person who walks in our door, or calls/emails us.

Medical Missionaries is very sad that we have lost one of our own. Ann was legendary in every aspect of her life. She was involved and supported so many organizations and always let her brilliant light shine through.

Ann was an integral part of Medical Missionaries almost from the beginning. She brought people into our orbit and advocated for many. She rescued us one summer when everyone was away but she was there to hold the fort, as Dr. Irwin recalled it. No one will forget how much Ann loved to dress up to make everyone happy. She kept up the spirit on holidays and at parades.

Ann, you will never be forgotten and your spirit lives on in our work and in our hearts.

Medical Missionaries recently packed another container now on its way to the Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa. We have been working with a partner who is dedicated to filling multiple small clinics in the Ivory Coast with much needed medical supplies and equipment.

Every donation counts! Thank you!

Medical Missionaries is always looking for small miracles. Sometimes we are asked for something we don’t have and then it just appears! Here’s a miracle that happened recently.

We received a letter from an LPN who is a missionary operating an orphanage in Chad, Africa. They have been trying to increase their staff’s capacity to provide life saving measures for hydration, nutrition and medication administration, especially for infants. They had recently lost an infant to dehydration as the hospital did not have access to IV or tube feed equipment. They sent us a letter requesting infant sized feeding tubes, syringes and other supplies for antibiotic injection.

We did not have specific supplies such as these at the office, which are difficult to come by. But on our weekly visit to the Mercy room at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center there they were - exactly the items this nurse was requesting!

Dr. Irwin breathed a sigh of relief and said quietly, “another small miracle.”
