Congratulations to Isabel Bejarano, RN, on receiving a Stroke Standout Award! 👏💙

This summer, during a routine post-procedure follow-up call, Isabel quickly recognized signs of an acute stroke when a patient began having difficulty speaking. She immediately called 911, helping ensure the patient received rapid evaluation and time-sensitive treatment at Elliot Hospital.

Thanks to Isabel's quick thinking, clinical expertise, and commitment to exceptional patient care, the patient received the critical care they needed and was ultimately able to continue their recovery at home with support from family and care teams.

Last weekend, Elliot Health System hosted its annual Breast Cancer Survivors Brunch. 🩷 Held each year in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this event is open to current and former patients of the Elliot Breast Health Center and their families. The brunch provides an opportunity to make new connections and reconnect with the care teams who supported them throughout their breast cancer journey.

This year’s theme, "Sunshine After the Storm," beautifully reflected the spirit of the event. Held at Murphy’s Taproom and Carriage House, the brunch brought together survivors, families, and care teams to celebrate strength, resilience, and hope. It was a meaningful opportunity to share stories, honor each journey, and recognize the bonds that continue to unite this community.

For many women, the thought of having a mammogram can cause anxiety. Concerns about discomfort, radiation exposure, or the possibility of needing additional imaging may make it tempting to delay this important preventive screening. However, understanding the facts can help put those fears into perspective:

• Most call-backs happen because additional information is needed, not because cancer has been found.
• Most biopsy results are benign.
• The benefits of early detection far outweigh the temporary discomfort of a mammogram or the minimal risk associated with radiation exposure.
