Understanding the asylum process can provide important context for patient care.

At the 2026 Maine Medicine Educational Summit, presenters of The Physician Role in Immigrant & Asylum Medicine will draw on their experience with the Tufts University School of Medicine Asylum Project, which provides forensic medical and psychological evaluations to individuals seeking asylum.

Attendees will gain insight into the asylum process, physicians’ professional responsibilities, and the role of forensic medical evaluations in asylum claims.

Outdated preference cards can mean unnecessary supplies, added costs, and avoidable waste. The ACS SUSTAIN Collaborative’s Preference Card Optimization Campaign is helping surgical teams make simple changes that can improve OR efficiency and support more sustainable care.

The campaign is open to all surgical teams through August 2, 2027.
