There’s something especially important about having support during early motherhood, not just from people who love you, but from someone trained to help you navigate the weight of it all with care and compassion.

At Sharon Klein Counseling, both Samantha and Kat have a heart for walking alongside moms in every season.

Samantha, an adoptive mom herself, brings valuable insight into parenting, attachment, family dynamics, adoption/foster care, grief, and life transitions.

Kat, a mom of two young children, understands firsthand the emotional, mental, and spiritual demands of motherhood. Her approach is compassionate, grounded, and deeply supportive for moms carrying more than they were meant to carry alone.

If you're looking for support, encouragement, or a safe place to process this season, you don't have to navigate it alone. 🤍

FAQ: Do you accept insurance?

We know navigating insurance can feel overwhelming, so we try to make the process as simple as possible.

We currently accept:
• Cigna
• Aetna
• Northwell Tier 1
• 1199 National Benefit Fund
• Emblem / UHC NYC Employees PPO Plan
• United Healthcare
• Oxford
• UMR
• Medicare

We can also work with anyone with NYSHIP Empire Plan and will help you access your out-of-network benefits.

Not sure whether your plan is accepted? Reach out to our team. We're happy to help you understand your coverage and answer any questions before getting started.

Looking for a more affordable counseling option? Our talented counseling interns are directly supervised by Sharon Klein, LCSW-R, and receive ongoing training and support. They are compassionate, gifted clinicians who provide excellent care at a significantly reduced rate for clients who choose not to use insurance.

Seeking support is hard enough. Figuring out insurance shouldn't be.

EMDR is one of the many therapeutic approaches we offer at Sharon Klein Counseling - but what exactly is it?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach designed to help people process difficult experiences, trauma, anxiety, fears, and deeply rooted emotional patterns that may feel “stuck.” Rather than simply talking through painful experiences, EMDR helps the brain reprocess them in a way that can reduce their emotional intensity over time.

EMDR may be a good fit for you if:
• You feel like certain experiences still deeply affect you, even years later
• You notice patterns of anxiety, fear, panic, or emotional overwhelm that feel difficult to move past
• You feel “triggered” by situations that logically shouldn’t feel as intense as they do
• Traditional talk therapy has been helpful, but you feel like something still feels unresolved
• You struggle with trauma, grief, attachment wounds, or distressing memories

Healing is not one-size-fits-all, and finding the right therapeutic approach matters. Our team is always happy to help you explore what support may best fit your story, needs, and goals.

June is here - a fresh invitation to slow down, check in, and move forward with intention.

This month, we’re focusing on tending to both your emotional and spiritual well-being, because true growth happens when both are supported.

“Search me, God, and know my heart…lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23–24

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something deeper, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

You graduated. 🎓
You reached the goal.
You did the work.

And now…everything feels a little uncertain.

For many graduates, the transition out of school can bring unexpected emotions - pressure, anxiety, loneliness, loss of routine, comparison, or fear about what comes next. Even exciting change can feel overwhelming.

If this season feels harder than you expected, you are not failing. You are adjusting.

Life after graduation is a major transition, and it’s okay to need support as you navigate new routines, relationships, careers, expectations, and identity outside of school.

You do not have to figure it all out overnight. 🤍

Today, we pause to remember the lives given in service to our country - and the families who carry that sacrifice every day.

At Sharon Klein Counseling, we hold space for both gratitude and grief. Freedom is never free, and behind every act of bravery is a story worth honoring.

As we reflect, we’re reminded of this truth:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” - John 15:13

May we live with deeper appreciation, extend compassion to those who carry loss, and never forget the cost of the freedom we experience daily. 🇺🇸

“Signs You Might Benefit from Counseling” isn’t always as obvious as a crisis.

It can look like feeling constantly overwhelmed, replaying the same thoughts on a loop, struggling in your relationships, or just knowing something feels off but not knowing why.

Counseling isn’t just for when things fall apart, it’s a space to process, grow, and feel supported through it all.

Taking the first step:
Start by reaching out. That might look like filling out an inquiry form, sending an email, or simply calling & asking questions about what to expect.

We’re here to walk with you, at your pace.

Prayer is powerful.
And so is support.

We deeply believe in the power of prayer - bringing your worries, fears, and hopes before God matters. It creates space for peace, perspective, and connection.

But prayer was never meant to be the only place you process what you’re carrying.

Sometimes, healing also looks like sitting with someone who can help you untangle your thoughts, navigate your emotions, and walk with you through what feels heavy. Support and counseling don’t replace your faith - they can strengthen it.

Postpartum isn’t talked about enough.
We celebrate the baby. We check in on milestones. We ask how the nights are going.

But we don’t always ask the deeper questions -
How are you really doing?
What has this transition felt like for you?
Because postpartum can be beautiful…and disorienting.

At Sharon Klein Counseling, we sit with women in that in-between space every day.

Looking for the best fit for you?
Samantha brings deep empathy and insight into the complexities of motherhood - from parenting and adoption to grief, attachment, and the ever-evolving parent-child relationship. She understands, both personally and professionally, how layered this season can be.

Deborah meets moms with a gentle, prayerful presence. With a heart for grief work and a background supporting young and expectant mothers, she creates a space where you can be honest about what you’re feeling.

Larissa looks at the full picture - how your mental health connects to your physical health, from hormones to nutrition to conditions like ADHD or PCOS. Her clients trust her deeply, and she walks with them in a steady, long-term way.

Mother’s Day feels a little different when you’re both a mom and someone who walks alongside other moms every day.

As a proud working mom of two, I know firsthand how much we carry - the mental lists, the emotional weight, the constant balancing act of showing up for everyone while trying not to lose ourselves in the process.

And in my work, I have the privilege of sitting with so many incredible moms who are carrying just as much…sometimes quietly, sometimes overwhelmingly, but always with deep love at the center of it all.

To the moms doing more than anyone sees - you are not alone in it!

Happy Mother’s Day 🤍
