Happy National Garden Week! Did you know that gardening acts as a natural stress reliever? At Vinson Hall, we have a set of resident-maintained garden plots, as well as beautiful flowers and shrubs planted all over our campus for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Congratulations to our wonderful staff at The Sylvestery, our memory care community on campus! The Virginia Department of Social Services recently conducted their annual inspection and found The Sylvestery to be “Deficiency Free.” This in-depth inspection is required annually in order to maintain our state licensure. We’re proud of our dedicated staff at The Sylvestery and throughout Vinson Hall!

We’re always happy to see our friend and internationally recognized Broadway historian Steve Friedman at Vinson Hall! As part of his ongoing Broadway lecture series, he recently came to campus to give a presentation all about the iconic choreographer Bob Fosse. We learned about everything from his dance style and his impressive list of Broadway shows and movies to his background and personal life. Steve even opened his lecture by singing us a song! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, Steve!

We celebrated Intergenerational Day by welcoming our friends from Kidstretch Preschool in Falls Church back to campus for another playdate! Vinson Hall has been arranging intergenerational playdates with the students at Kidstretch for years and this was their 10th visit to campus! We spent the beautiful sunny morning at our sports park running relay races, playing shadow tag and a bean bag toss game, blowing bubbles, and sharing smiles and laughter. We’re already excited for our next playdate!

The Vinson Hall Players made their triumphant return this month after taking a hiatus during the renovation of our Alford Auditorium. Our performers presented two showings of the play "Beau Jest", a romantic comedy in two acts by author James Sherman.

The next time you visit our campus, you may notice that our main entrance has a refreshing new look! Crews from Carroll Architectural Shade in Baltimore installed brand new awnings at the front and rear lobby entrances of our Heritage Hall building. We look forward to enjoying time outside in the shade this summer!
