Today on the 25th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001, we remember all of those who lost their lives on that terrible day at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on United Airlines Flight 93.

We honor the brave first responders and servicemembers who acted with courage and sacrificed so much.

We are thinking of all of the families forever changed by that fateful day.

We will never forget.

Last week, residents came together for our latest monthly guided drum circle session. Using a variety of percussion instruments, attendees played along with different beats to recorded music. This week the circle drummed to five songs by the late Dolly Parton as a memorial tribute to the singer.

We were recently treated to the musical stylings of the Borisevich Duo, who came back to our campus on August 13. The Borisevich Duo regularly perform in our ballroom, and always draw a crowd!

Happy National Dog Day! Did you know that Vinson Hall is pet friendly? Many of our residents enjoy the companionship of a furry friend. With our beautiful green spaces and paved walking paths around our campus, there are lots of places for your pet to explore!

Student interns from the US Navy Memorial were back on our campus from July 31 to August 2 to continue their work with and recognition of Vinson Hall residents in their Stories of Service program. The U.S. Navy Memorial’s Stories of Service program has filmed hundreds of veterans and their family members since its inception in 2007. Vinson Hall, in fact, was one of the first locations the program visited to interview veterans when the program first began. This is a wonderful way to connect with younger generations and honor our military heritage!

Vinson Hall’s Special Events team arranged a visit to the Vint Hill Cold War Museum in Warrenton, VA, for a guided tour of the museum’s collections of signals & image intelligence, Vint Hill history and other artifacts from the Cold War. About 20 residents took part in this fascinating outing, which included a stop for lunch. Our Special Events team does a fantastic job coordinating fun and interesting trips like these to area museums, monuments and attractions!
