One of the most rewarding parts of being a physical therapist is helping patients understand that surgery isn’t always the only option!
Recently, a patient left a review after successfully rehabbing a meniscus injury through conservative physical therapy rather than surgery. While every injury is unique and some meniscus tears do require surgical intervention, current research continues to support conservative rehabilitation as an effective first-line treatment for many patients!
At Boston PT & Wellness, staying current with the latest literature is a critical part of how we practice. We continually review emerging research and clinical guidelines to ensure our patients receive evidence-based care that aligns with the best available science.
For many meniscus injuries, progressive strengthening, mobility work, neuromuscular training, and individualized exercise prescription can lead to outcomes comparable to surgery while avoiding the risks and recovery associated with an operation!
We’re grateful for patients who trust us throughout their recovery journey and are proud to help them return to the activities they love.
