Since 1967, Lakeside Behavioral Health System has provided specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in the Memphis and Mid-South region. The 305-bed facility, located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serves as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Physicians are on the medical staff of Lakeside Behavioral Health System, but, with limited exceptions, are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of Lakeside Behavioral Health System.

CIT training strengthens collaboration among behavioral health professionals and community partners and equips teams with the knowledge and skills to better understand and respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.

At Lakeside, we believe that meaningful partnerships and ongoing education are essential to building a more compassionate, informed, and connected community.

Supporting Those Who Serve Our Community

Lakeside Behavioral Health System was proud to provide vicarious trauma training to the 150th Memphis Police Department Basic Recruit Class, equipping future officers with a deeper understanding of how repeated exposure to traumatic events can affect their mental and emotional well-being.

Led by Director of Outpatient Services Charles Winton Jr. and Paige Allen, the training emphasized recognizing trauma's effects, understanding its impact, and building awareness of strategies that support resilience and mental wellness.

At Lakeside, we believe caring for our community includes supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting it. Thank you to the Memphis Police Department for investing in your officers' well-being.

We were delighted to attend the Mental Health Fair, hosted by the Social Work Dept. at Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday, October 6. Business Development Rep Amy Coleman, BS, MHA, CPRS, discussed Emotional Wellness.

Students listened as members of the Behavioral Health Sciences and University Counseling Center staff shared practical tips for managing the emotional and mental health challenges of college life. They also received a meal sponsored by Lakeside Behavioral Health System and had the opportunity to visit stations and participate in activities. Each station focused on one dimension in the Eight Dimensions of Wellness. Fun was had by all!
