Kate got to read to Bliss yesterday, one of St. Jude’s Read Dogs. She also built a “brush bot” in STEM lab that she turned into a kitty cat. We saw Rose, one of St. Jude’s therapy dogs before heading to work on Kate’s fashion show costume. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month so we have been busy already this month with activities and crafts. 💛💛💛

Kate and I had a wonderful visit with friends this weekend. We went to Build-a-Bear to continue her Pokemon collection, Mudd Island for dinner, B.B. King’s, and of course had to catch the sunset from the top of the Bass Pro Shop over the Mississippi River.
My friend, Kat, and I ran 7 miles for 7 rounds of treatment for Kate. It was not easy and felt like quite the accomplishment. A couple people that day told me I looked strong. I didn’t feel strong physically, but mentally I kept telling myself to keep going for Kate. If she could do it- I could keep going too!
Tomorrow is September 1st and begins Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Kate will also be completing her 8th round of treatment during September. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

My neighbor is doing the Great Cycle Challenge in September, which raises money to fight childhood cancer. He’s riding for Kate this year. Her picture was displaced in New York Times’ Square this week! So very awesome!

Kate just finished round 7 today at St. Jude’s. She did better this round tolerating the chemo and immunotherapy. She loves her visits with Snuggle while in-patient 🐶

We enjoyed a short visit at home with Kate this past weekend together. The Florida sunset really showed off for her. She has been in-patient this week in Memphis with her dad. I can’t wait to go back and see her!

Scan update (and pics of Kate’s sewing project):

Kate’s scans of her arm continue to show improvement. She still has 2 spots in her arm that faintly light up, but the treatment is working, which we are extremely thankful for. We will stay the course of chemo/immunotherapy for 4 more rounds before having scans again.

Kate has felt much better after this last round and has been able to do more activities and get out more. She made me this adorable dog, which is supposed to be my dog, “Daisy,” because she said she knew I missed her. She started it in May for Mother’s Day and has worked on it a little at a time as she has felt up to it in the sewing circle class at St. Jude’s. She finally finished it last Thursday and was just so proud of it. We took Daisy around and showed her off to people at St. Jude’s. I think it is just the sweetest gift 🐶🩷

Thank you also for the gifts for Kate from her wish list. We truly appreciate your kindness!! Kate will be admitted to start round 7 of treatment tomorrow. We are praying that she continues to tolerate treatment and have minimal side effects again this round.

Today was scan day for Kate after 6 rounds of treatment. It was a long day. We didn’t get back to the apartment until after 5:00 PM. We also squeezed in a visit with one of the Read Dogs, Otis. We will meet with Kate’s oncologist tomorrow to go over the results that are in- I don’t expect them all to be back.
I put together Kate’s current wish list. One item is a more expensive item that her physical therapist recommended to work on coordination, balance, and core strength. I have been working on encouraging her to be more active lately as well.
