Happy Supply Chain Week! 💙

This week, we’re celebrating a team whose impact can be felt in every corner of our hospital; our incredible Supply Chain colleagues at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

So much of what they do happens behind the scenes, but their work touches nearly every patient we care for. From making sure our caregivers have what they need to anticipating needs before they arise, they are an essential part of the care we provide every single day.

To our Supply Chain team: thank you for your dedication, your partnership, and for always finding a way to get it done. Your work is absolutely felt throughout the hospital and we are so grateful for each of you. 🧡

You are an important part of what makes Kendall special.

During Physician Assistant Week, HCA Florida Kendall Hospital joins our broader HCA Healthcare network to recognize the important role physician assistants (PAs) play in caring for patients and supporting care teams.

Across specialties and care settings, PAs bring clinical knowledge, collaboration and compassion to the patient care experience. Whether conducting physical exams, helping guide treatment plans or supporting follow-up care, they work closely with physicians and colleagues to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

As part of HCA Healthcare, PAs collaborate with care teams across a network that supported approximately 47 million patient encounters in 2025 across 190 hospitals and 2,500 outpatient facilities — helping make care possible for patients, families and communities.

To all our PAs, thank you for the care, expertise and support you bring to patients, families and care teams.

🍽️ A nourishing meal can bring comfort, support healing and help patients feel cared for during a hospital stay. That’s why we believe good food is good medicine.

During Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week, we’re proud to celebrate the colleagues who make that care possible: our cooks, dietary hosts, nutritionists and food service leadership. Their teamwork helps ensure patients receive thoughtful nutrition support as part of a patient-centered care experience.

💙 Please join us in thanking our Food and Nutrition Team for all they do for our patients, visitors and colleagues each day!

When you or a loved one needs emergency care, your closest option may be a freestanding emergency room (FSER).

An FSER provides 24/7 emergency care similar to a hospital emergency room, but it’s located separately from a hospital campus. With locations like HCA Florida Boynton Beach Emergency and HCA Florida Palm Beach Gardens Emergency, our freestanding ERs offer convenient access to emergency care closer to where you are.

In this video, Dr. Brad Hoover, an emergency physician with HCA Healthcare, explains what to expect during a visit — from check-in and evaluation to treatment — and how, if you need hospital-based care, our connected network can help coordinate the next step.

Each year, approximately 10 million patients receive emergency care across our broader HCA Healthcare network. Every visit is different, but our goal is always the same: to help you get the care you need when it matters most.

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

After seeking care, Pala learned she had high-grade myelodysplastic syndrome, a condition that can progress to an aggressive blood cancer called acute leukemia. Her search for treatment options brought her to the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, where she met Dr. Zeina Al-Mansour and team.

“I am so grateful that I was able to find this place and this team, because they saved my life,” Pala said. “They gave me a future. I’ll be able to see my grandchildren grow up. I’ll be able to see them graduate. I am just so grateful.”

During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, Pala’s story reflects the specialized expertise and advanced treatment options available through our transplant and cellular therapy team. Our colleagues are committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care with purpose and integrity.

Is it a stomach bug, food poisoning or something more serious?

Mild nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may improve with rest and fluids. But some digestive symptoms — like signs of dehydration, blood in your stool, vomit, a high fever or severe stomach pain — shouldn’t be ignored.

Understanding the warning signs can help you know when symptoms may be managed at home and when to seek urgent or emergency care.

Music legend Lionel Richie is making headlines after reportedly being treated for atrial fibrillation (AFib), the most common type of irregular heart rhythm.

“When AFib symptoms do occur, they may include rapid and irregular heartbeats, fluttering in the chest, dizziness or lightheadedness, shortness of breath or chest discomfort,” says cardiac electrophysiologist Dr. Robert Fishel.

Some people have no symptoms, while others may notice an irregular pulse or difficulty exercising. A smartwatch or wearable device may even be the first to flag an irregular rhythm.

Treatment varies from person to person and may include medications, cardioversion, or cardiac ablation, a procedure that targets the areas of the heart responsible for the abnormal rhythm.

This AFib Awareness Month, know the signs and pay attention to what your heart may be telling you.

This National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the determination of patients— like Cierra Anderson — and the care teams who help make meaningful progress possible.

After experiencing an unexpected and severe stroke at just 25-years old, Cierra began her recovery journey by undergoing a month of intensive rehabilitation at HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation. The center, which opened to the community in May 2026, provides specialized inpatient rehabilitation to support patients working to regain function and independence after serious illness or injury.

With the support of her rehabilitation care team — and plenty of determination — Cierra made significant progress. Today, she is walking and talking again. She recently marked another milestone by ringing the Champion’s Bell and graduating from the rehabilitation program.

During National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, we celebrate Cierra’s progress and the dedicated rehabilitation colleagues who help patients work toward their individual recovery goals every day.

During Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, HCA Florida Healthcare recognizes our APPs and the important role they play across the HCA Healthcare network. From listening and assessing symptoms to helping guide treatment and follow-up care, APPs are there for patients every step of the way.

As highly trained clinicians with advanced degrees, APPs bring deep expertise to patient care. At HCA Healthcare, we’re committed to advancing that expertise by investing more than $50 million in education and professional development annually — because supporting our colleagues means supporting better outcomes for our patients.

To all our APPs, thank you for the compassionate care you provide every day.

During Environmental Services (EVS) Week, we’re proud to recognize team members like Kwame Avery, who demonstrate how every role can be an opportunity to lead, grow and contribute to our mission. 💙

As a newly promoted EVS supervisor at 🏥 HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, Kwame helps create a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and colleagues while bringing a passion for empowering others to his work each day.

“My favorite part of my role is being a leader who has the ability to inspire, encourage and educate,” Kwame says. “What I appreciate about working for HCA Florida Healthcare is that it gives me the opportunity for continuous professional development and a steady, day-by-day approach to learning. It is an excellent foundation for a fulfilling career.”

That drive to inspire others extends beyond the hospital. Outside of work, Kwame enjoys writing inspirational books and mentoring children through his church.

After three and a half years with HCA Healthcare, Kwame continues to grow his career while making a difference for those around him — showing how EVS can be a place to serve others, develop as a leader and build a meaningful career.
