Art People LLC An Arts Center with a Therapeutic Approach

Art People provides hands-on creative arts-based services through Art Therapy groups, diverse art workshops, community involvement, and private events. We provide programs for a wide variety of clients, but specialize in working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. We also offer our unprecedented, unique, and customizable Inclusive Arts program for schools, Art Therapists, human s

ervices agencies, families, community programs, professional conferences, hospitals, and other parties who work with individuals who have developmental disabilities. This one-of-a-kind training teaches the skills and knowledge needed to safely and appropriately provide arts programming for this population. Art People was founded in 2021 by two Art Therapists who share a passionate vision of a space where artists with and without disabilities can work creatively alongside each other as equals. A space where everybody has meaningful ideas and talents to contribute, and where we can all grow by learning from each other.

Grief doesn’t always need words or a solution. Sometimes it just needs somewhere to exist. 🎨💛 Yayoi Kusama’s work has been incredibly influential in showing how art can become a powerful space for expressing inner experiences, repetition, identity, and mental health. Her work is a reminder that art can hold things we don’t always have words for, and that continues to inspire so many of us. Our hearts are sad today for our art community ❤️🎨

Accessibility in art making doesn’t always mean specialized equipment. Sometimes it means using a thicker marker, making the paper smaller, reducing setup, changing your position, modifying a tool or simply letting go of the idea that there is a “right” way to create ✨

As an art therapist, I think one of the most useful questions we can ask is: “What could we change to make this activity more accessible?”🎨

Creative expression should have room for different bodies, brains, energy levels, sensory needs, ages, and abilities 💛

Save this for the next time you feel like art “isn’t working” for you…and try changing the art activity instead of forcing yourself to adapt to it ❤️

POV: Someone asks an art therapist, “What are you thinking about?” 😂🎨

Meanwhile, my brain is somewhere between:
🎨 a new art idea
🖍️ trying out new supplies (or returning back to my favorites 🥸)
🧠 a random therapy concept
✨ sweater weather
📋 approximately 47 things I need to remember
…and somehow also thinking about what color I want to use next.

Artists and art therapists: what’s currently taking up space in your brain? 👀✨🎨

🎨 Meet our art therapists! ✨and welcome to Art People!

We’re a team of compassionate mental health clinicians/art therapists who believe therapy should be collaborative, affirming, and tailored to the individual. We’re proud to provide neurodivergent-affirming and gender-affirming care, creating space for clients to show up as their authentic selves -without having to fit into a particular mold!

We’re currently accepting new clients! ❤️ If you or someone you know is looking for a therapist who incorporates creativity into the therapeutic process, we’d love to connect.

🎨Reach out to learn more about our services or to get started with one of our clinicians by visiting our website! ✨

What if therapy didn’t always have to start with talking? 🎨

For some neurodivergent people, art can offer another way to communicate, explore emotions, engage with sensory experiences, and connect with what’s happening internally.

And this is just oneee reason art therapy can be meaningful for neurodivergent humans. There are so many other ways it can support neurodivergent peeps - from sensory regulation and identity exploration to building coping skills, self-advocacy, and creating a therapeutic environment that works with their needs rather than against them.

There is so much more to explore here, and I’d love to dive into some of those topics in future posts. 💛

What would you want to learn about?
