Appointments are filling quickly! If you've been thinking about scheduling a treatment, now is a good time to reserve your preferred day and time.

🙌 How Is Tui Na & Qigong Therapy Different From Massage?

Chinese Medicine is an umbrella term encompassing several systems of practice, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tui Na, Qigong Therapy, and others.

Tui Na & Qigong Therapy approaches treatment through the principles and theories of Chinese Medicine, including:

☯️ Qi and the channel/meridian system, addressing the traditional pathways and relationships through which Qi is understood to circulate.

🌿 Yin and Yang, considering the balance and interaction of opposing yet complementary functions.

🌿 Five Phase Theory, examining the relationships among the body's functional systems.

🙌 Qi and Blood, considering their circulation, nourishment, and relationship to physical function.

🌿 Pattern differentiation, identifying the individual's presentation rather than relying solely on the location of discomfort.

These principles guide the application of therapeutic acupressure, channel work, muscular and joint manipulation, and Qigong transmission.

This is what makes each treatment individualized.

Rather than following a standardized massage routine, Tui Na & Qigong Therapy combines hands-on methods with traditional Chinese Medicine principles to tailor treatment to your particular presentation, areas of discomfort, and functional needs.

Our focus is on alleviating the intensity of discomfort, improving mobility, and supporting better physical function.

Addressing Small Problems Before They Become Bigger Ones

Minor aches, recurring tension, stiffness, and occasional discomfort are often easy to dismiss. We adjust how we move, avoid certain activities, or simply learn to live with them. But when these issues persist, they can begin to affect how comfortably and efficiently the body functions.

Addressing discomfort early may help prevent minor limitations from becoming more persistent problems. You don't have to wait until pain interferes with your daily activities to seek treatment.

Why a Series of 3 or 5 Treatments?

While a single treatment may provide noticeable relief, recurring or longstanding concerns often benefit from a more consistent approach.

A series of 3 treatments allows us to address the initial concern, observe how your body responds, and build upon improvements from one session to the next.

A series of 5 treatments provides additional time for more persistent or complex concerns, allowing us to work progressively toward improved comfort, mobility, and function.

Treatment frequency is based on your individual needs and progress. Not everyone requires a full series, and the goal is always to accomplish what we can with the fewest treatments reasonably necessary.

Maintaining Your Progress

Once your initial concerns have improved, a maintenance treatment every 4–6 weeks may help manage recurring tension, address new areas of discomfort, and support the progress you've made.

Think of maintenance as an opportunity to check in with your body before smaller concerns begin interfering with your everyday activities.

My philosophy is simple: Treatment should have a purpose, progress should be measurable, and ongoing appointments should serve your needs, not become an obligation.

The goal isn't to keep you coming forever. It's to help you reach the point where you don't need to.

A more comprehensive approach for multiple areas of discomfort, recurring tension, or concerns that involve interconnected regions of the body.

🔸 90-Minute Tui Na & Qigong Therapy | $150

THE GATE OF PRE-HEAVEN SILENT RADIANCE

Before Heaven and Earth divide, before intention moves and before the mind separates observer from experience, there is an undivided condition.

The Gate of Pre-Heaven Silent Radiance is the sixth transmission of Scroll Two. It combines Dark Stillness of the Primordial Root with Primordial Clarity in the Realm of Stillness.

The practice begins through the meeting of Heaven and Earth at the Lower Dantian. As the distinction between body, breath, awareness, and Qi settles, Jing, Qi, and Shen unify within a silent field.

Its purpose is not to create visions, project light, or chase an extraordinary state. It cultivates the condition in which the practitioner stops observing the field as something separate.

The body becomes the field.

Silent radiance is clarity without outward projection, stillness without deadness, and presence without division.

This method can be found inside Core Training, Scroll Two, at The Center.

CHINESE MEDICAL BODYWORK
Tui Na & Qigong Therapy

WHY seek treatment?

Because persistent muscular tension, discomfort, stiffness, and restricted movement can interfere with how you feel and function every day.

Tui Na & Qigong Therapy takes an individualized approach to addressing these concerns, working with the body rather than simply following a routine.

WHEN should you consider treatment?

When discomfort keeps returning. When movement feels restricted. When your body feels tense, overworked, or isn't functioning as comfortably as you'd like.

You don't have to wait until a minor issue becomes a major limitation.

HOW does treatment work?

Tui Na is a traditional Chinese medical bodywork practice that uses therapeutic acupressure, soft tissue manipulation, and joint mobilization.

Treatment may also include Qigong Therapy, cupping, gua sha, or other appropriate methods based on your individual needs.

The goal is to address what you're experiencing, support more comfortable movement, and improve function.

WHO will be treating you?

I'm Erik Oliva, the practitioner behind Chinese Medical Bodywork in Milford, PA.

My approach is hands-on, individualized, and guided by what I observe during your treatment, along with what you tell me you're experiencing.

I don't believe everyone needs the same treatment, and I don't believe the goal should be endless appointments.

My goal isn't to keep you coming forever. It's to help you reach the point where you don't need to.

Not All Bodywork Is Massage.

When most people think of bodywork, they think of massage: relaxing tight muscles, easing tension, and enjoying a little time to unwind.

At the Chinese Medical Bodywork Clinic in Milford, PA, our approach is different.

Tui Na & Qigong Therapy is treatment-oriented bodywork rooted in Chinese medicine.

Rather than following a standard full-body massage routine, we work with the specific concerns you bring to the treatment table.

That may involve:

✔️ Acupressure and targeted soft tissue techniques
✔️ Joint mobilization and assisted movement
✔️ Addressing muscular tension and restricted mobility
✔️ Qigong Theraoy, Cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion when appropriate
✔️ Individualized treatment based on your condition and response

A session may focus entirely on your neck and shoulders, your lower back and hips, or another area requiring attention.

The goal isn't simply to help you relax for an hour. It's to address what brought you in.

Massage has its place, and so does Chinese medical bodywork. The difference is in the approach, the methods, and the purpose of treatment.
