Meet Joyce Barber, LPC.

Joyce has spent more than 30 years helping people through some of life's hardest experiences, including traumatic events, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. Much of her career has been devoted to helping children process abuse and begin healing in safe, supportive environments.

Outside of counseling, Joyce previously created and hosted a television show about mental health issues and has trained psychiatrists in courtroom testimony.

She's also performed with the Mobile Opera. And she has two dogs named Baby and Bear, who keep her humble.

Joyce is currently accepting new clients in our Fairhope office and through teletherapy.

Has Love on the Spectrum sent you down a rabbit hole?

For a lot of people - especially adults - it's the first time autism has ever felt relatable. But what you see on TV is one small slice of a very wide spectrum.

If it’s something you’ve been wondering about, talking to the right person can help you find real answers.

Barbara Leigh specializes in autism screenings and support, and she is accepting new clients in our Fairhope office.

Military families know a kind of stress that’s hard to explain to people who haven’t lived it.

The deployments, the waiting, the coming home that doesn’t always feel like coming home...Things that don't just disappear when the service ends.

We have counselors that work with military families and understand how much of that can stay with you. Appointments are available online and in-person at our Fairhope and Mobile locations.

ADHD doesn't always look like a sugar rush.
In girls and women, it often shows up in ways that are easier to overlook or explain away.

Signs like:
• daydreaming or losing track of time
• feeling overwhelmed by "simple" or everyday tasks
• overthinking conversations or decisions
• negative self-talk
• putting things off until there’s pressure to finish
• a bedroom, car, or inbox that's completely out of control
• being labeled as ""sensitive"" or ""emotional""

If these sound familiar, schedule an evaluation with one of our counselors.

Memorial Day means something different when you've lost someone in service. The flags and the cookouts are still there, but so is something heavier.

If you're carrying that this weekend, you don't have to carry it alone.

Always being the easygoing one is exhausting.

Agreeing with things you don't agree with. Shrinking yourself so other people are comfortable. Apologizing for things that aren't your fault. Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions.

At some point, taking care of everyone else stops being generous and starts being survival. Therapy can help you figure out where that line is.
