Stretching your contact lenses beyond their recommended replacement schedule might seem harmless, but it can lead to discomfort and increase your risk of eye complications.

Remember to:

📅 Replace your lenses according to your prescribed schedule.
🧴 Clean and disinfect reusable lenses exactly as directed.
🫧 Replace your lens case at least every three months, or sooner if damaged or recommended by your provider.
🚨 Remove your lenses and contact your eye care provider if you experience redness, pain, unusual light sensitivity, blurry vision, or discharge.

Your vision is worth protecting! During Contact Lens Safety Month, make healthy lens habits part of your everyday routine.

Water and contact lenses don't mix. Tap water, bottled water, and even swimming pool water can expose your lenses to harmful microorganisms that may cause serious eye infections.

Keep these important rules in mind:

✔️ Always use the recommended contact lens solution.
✔️ Never rinse or store your lenses in water or saliva.
✔️ Never reuse or “top off” old solution in your lens case.
✔️ Keep lenses out when swimming or showering.

Your contact lens solution has an important job—don't substitute it with water!

It's tempting to fall asleep in your contacts after a long day, but sleeping in contact lenses can increase your risk of serious eye infections, even with lenses approved for extended wear.

Unless your eye care provider has specifically instructed you otherwise, remove your contacts before sleeping.

🌙 Your nighttime routine should include:

Removing your contact lenses.
Cleaning and storing reusable lenses as directed.
Giving your eyes the care they need overnight.

When it comes to contact lenses, don't let convenience compromise your eye health! 👁️

Halloween shouldn't be spooky for the wrong reason! 🎃

The scariest part of your Halloween shouldn’t be an eye infection.

Using decorative lenses without a valid prescription can cause serious harm to your eyes, haunting you long after October 31. Lenses purchased without a prescription may not fit correctly and can increase the risk of scratches, corneal ulcers, infection, and even permanent vision loss.

Skip the costume shop or online seller that doesn’t require a prescription. Talk with your doctor of optometry about safely getting decorative lenses instead. Your costume can be scary. Your contact lenses shouldn’t be.

October is Contact Lens Safety Month, a time to focus on proper care, handling, and use of contact lenses. Healthy eyes start with good habits, such as always washing your hands with soap and water and drying them with a clean, lint-free towel before handling your contact lenses.

Even a little dirt or bacteria on your fingers can transfer to your lenses and increase your risk of eye irritation or infection.

🚰 Wash before inserting or removing lenses.
🙌 Dry your hands thoroughly.
🚫 Avoid touching your lenses with unwashed hands.

Small steps can make a big difference in protecting your vision!
