Welcome to the 2026 RWJBarnabas Health Student Nurse Externs!

This summer, we proudly welcome 100+ nursing students from across the region for an immersive clinical experience designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional nursing practice. Over the next 10 weeks, each extern will be paired one-on-one with an experienced RN preceptor, providing individualized mentorship, guidance, and hands-on learning opportunities in a variety of specialty areas.

Through direct patient care experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to the culture of nursing excellence that defines RWJBarnabas Health, these future nurses will build the skills, confidence, and professional relationships that will help shape their careers. We’re excited to support their journey and invest in the next generation of nursing professionals!

This I ❤️ CSH Day, we’re celebrating kids like Nikos. Born with spina bifida, doctors told his parents he would never walk. After years of work at Children's Specialized Hospital, he stood on his own. His parents' greatest hope has always been his independence. By working hard at therapy, enduring the setbacks with determination, and always trying again, he is getting there.
