On today's we are so excited to introduce you to Dr. Darshini Vora! ✨Dr. Vora works at Children's Specialized Hospital as a psychiatrist where she provides exceptional care for our patients and families.
"To me, being a psychiatrist means having the privilege of helping children and families navigate some of life's most difficult challenges. It starts with listening, understanding each child's unique story, and partnering with families to develop a treatment plan that helps children thrive at home, in school, and in their communities. My goal is not only to treat symptoms but also to help every child reach their full potential and give families hope for the future.
I believe that caring for a child means caring for the entire family. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where children feel heard and parents feel empowered. My approach is collaborative—I work closely with families, schools, therapists, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans. I also spend time educating families about diagnoses, treatment options, and coping strategies so they can actively participate in their child's care and continue supporting progress at home.
I have always been drawn to listening to patients and their stories. Even during medical school, I found myself especially interested in psychiatric histories, including on the medical wards. The human mind has always fascinated me—it's an enigma that I continue to learn from every day. I chose psychiatry because it allows me to combine medicine with meaningful human connection while helping patients navigate some of the most challenging moments in their lives.
The happiest moments of my career are seeing children overcome challenges they once thought were impossible. Whether it's watching a child with crippling anxiety become confident and thrive in school or helping a child with ADHD gain focus, improve behavior at home, and succeed academically—while seeing the relief and hope on their families' faces—these moments remind me why I chose child and adolescent psychiatry and inspire me every day.
My patients keep me young! Whether I'm learning the newest slang, hearing about the latest games, or catching up on the newest animated movie, every day is a reminder that connecting with children means meeting them in their world. Building that connection is one of the most rewarding parts of being a child psychiatrist."
