Humbled and grateful 🍃

For me, this art is a call to presence. A reminder to set down my phone and make art, go outside, listen to the birds, tend to my plants, take a hike, plant a garden, lay in the sunshine, listen to the creek, sing, write a new song, dance, look at the stars, and just enjoy the REAL world.

I made this December 2019 and I still think of it often.

Hello 2025 🌼 this year, I will run through the forest and fall deeply in love with the wind. I will get to know the elements like never before. I’ll let the earth hold me long and gently. I’ll drink tea by the creek in the mornings and speak aloud gratitude prayers. I’ll deepen my relationship with Spirit and deepen my listening skills. I’ll make art, freely, for hours, following what inspires me. I’ll let my heart take root in the garden of peace and joy. I’ll fall more and more in love with my life. I’ll spend time with people that make my heart sing. I’ll have many deep belly laughs. I’ll make more music, and sing and share my music. I’ll spend long days working in the garden. My love and I will finish our home and we will begin our life on our land, living off grid. We will plant our first garden and learn all the lessons it has in store for us. Watch the bulbs we planted pop up for the first time. Get to know the birds and their songs. Listen deeply to the forest we get to call home. And fall more and more in love with each other and this beautiful land we get to call home.

Grateful for all 2024 had to teach me and show me. I feel like I stepped into this new version of me and got to know her so much. Grateful for all the growth 🙏🏻

Am I tending to the land or just opening the door to allow her to tend to me? 🌄

Pondering this question my love and I make trails on our land that we will walk for many years to come. Creating little roadways that connect all our favorite spots back to our home site.

These thoughts are inspired by the book “Braiding Sweetgrass” a book I have fallen deeply in love with in the past months.

says in this book,

“Knowing that you love the Earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the Earth loves you and return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.”

This book is so full of enriching delicious words. Every sentence like poetry speaking directing to my soul.

The list of loving behaviors in the second photo coming from a chapter where she shared the sacred relationship between us and the earth, and how tending to a garden is a way for us to love the earth and allow her the opportunity to love us back.

I wrote them down to meditate on each which reveals so much about the nature of love.
