It’s Socktoberfest! 🧦📍 The Mountain Center is collecting clean, unused men’s and women’s socks to help keep our neighbors warm this October. A fresh pair of socks can make a real difference, and every donation helps us care for our community. 💛

You can drop off your socks in the donation box at Basecamp. If you need a donation picked up, call Nicole at 505-231-0652 or email [email protected].

Thank you for helping keep our neighbors warm! Please share and spread the word. 🫂✨

The bikes work!! We wrapped up our Fall cohort together outside, spending our last day on the land with our youth and buffalo relatives 🦬✨

Todd from Fat Tire Society taught us the ABCs of bike maintenance: air, brakes, and chain. Then we set out on a 3-mile mountain bike ride around the Buffalo Range! The kids had the time of their lives, and it was a beautiful way to close our time together.

Watching our youth try new things on the land throughout this cohort has been so special. ✨Go, little rockstars! ✨

A day full of learning, laughter, and Maatuin, kinship with one another and the land 🤎

A sunset hike near Basecamp, along the ditch line and through the arroyo ✨ We’re grateful for the chance to be out on the homelands together, sharing space and taking in the evening.

The youth had room to let out a scream, release some energy, and reset. Sometimes you just need to breathe, move, and let it out on the land. 🌅💚

Basecamp snack time vibes ✨🫰🏼 Big shoutout to our Basecamp & Native Youth Coordinators for always coming through with yummy snacks and finding fun ways to make snack time special for our youth. We appreciate all the care you put into it! 🧉🍓💛🤝🏼

Back to regular Basecamp programming after Feast Day 🌿

We kicked things off with our own weather check-in and shared our favorite superheroes. For dinner, we had hot dogs and veggies 🌭🥦 Then we started a new group adventure: creating and narrating our own tabletop role-playing game! This will be a long-term project, and we can’t wait to see the story our youth build together 🎲✨

Our Case Manager, Director of Clinical Services, and Executive Administrative Assistant joined us to support the program and spend time with our youth. It was so nice to share the space together 🫶🏽

Happy Feast Day, Nambé Ówingeh! ✨🌿

Today, we give thanks for Mother Earth, the blessings of life, and the people who carry our traditions forward. Kuu da woha to the singers, dancers, cooks, hosts, and community members who make this day meaningful.

May we gather with A’gin (respect), Maatuin (kinship), and Iyingidi (responsibility and safety), and continue caring for one another and the land. 💚🪶
