Photo Dump | Thursday at Summer Youth Program 📍🤝

Last Thursday, youth spent the morning playing foxtail and creating art together on the sidewalks. Through movement, creativity, and play, they practiced teamwork, self-expression, and connection while enjoying time outdoors.

From friendly games to colorful chalk creations, the day was filled with laughter, imagination, and opportunities to learn and create together in community. 🎨✨

Day 2 Recap | Part 2 ☀️👀

Yesterday afternoon, Tewa Youth engaged their playful creativity through collaboration! Together, they created Collaborative Creatures, combining different skills, ideas, and perspectives into shared works of art.

Each youth had the opportunity to add their own unique touch, resulting in wonderfully wild and imaginative creations. Along the way, youth explored what it feels like to work collaboratively—the fun, the challenges, and the ways we can learn from one another when creating something together.

Thank you to our Art Therapist, Ana S., for leading this creative space and supporting youth in exploring imagination, collaboration, and self-expression. ✨🎨

Day 2 Recap | Part 1 ☀️🎨🖼️

Yesterday, youth spent time learning about the history of tagging, graffiti, and murals while exploring how public art can be a powerful tool for storytelling, self-expression, and community connection. Together, they reflected on the importance of Native representation in public spaces and the role art plays in honoring culture, identity, and lived experiences.

Thank you, NSRGTS, for spending the morning with our youth and sharing your creativity and knowledge. We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn together and look forward to continuing to foster spaces for creativity, self-expression, and connection throughout our Summer Youth Program. 🌿✨

Beginning Our Summer Together at Nambé Pueblo Reservoir 🌞🤝🏼

The youth and our Summer Youth Interns deepened their relationship with our waters by learning how to paddleboard at Nambé Pueblo Reservoir while practicing safety, respect, personal responsibility, kinship, and growth through play. These values are rooted in the Tewa teachings of Iyingidi (Responsibility & Safety), Maatuin (Kinship), and A’gin (Respect).

The challenge of finding balance on the water and mustering the strength to get back up after falling was one of many lessons we brought home with us. Asking for help and offering help are such important skills to practice in community, and we saw those values come to life throughout the day.

From cheering one another on to sharing space on the water, youth demonstrated resilience, courage, and care for one another while strengthening their connection to Nan Ochu Kwio (Mother Earth).

We are excited for the weeks ahead as we continue to create, learn, and grow with and from one another, our community, and the world around us. 💧🌿✨

Kuu da woha to everyone who joined us for our recent Native Men’s Gathering at Pecos Pueblo. It was a good day spent in community, sharing stories, learning together, and reconnecting with the land.

A special thank you to the Santa Fe Indigenous Center for helping make this gathering possible and for continuing to support spaces centered around connection, wellness, and community care.

We’re grateful to everyone who showed up, traveled with us, and shared space throughout the day. We’re already looking forward to our next Native Men’s Group gathering. 🪶💚🌱

School is out, and registration for our Youth Summer Program is still open. 🌷

Tewa Roots Society’s Youth Summer Program creates space for Nambé & Indigenous youth ages 11–17 to spend their summer grounded in community, culture, creativity, and connection to the land.

Through outdoor adventures, land-based learning, traditional arts, music, and creative expression, youth are supported in building relationships, confidence, and community care throughout the summer.

❗️Priority enrollment ends June 3, 2026.
Open enrollment will continue based on availability.❗️

Tewa Roots Society had the opportunity to be in community with Santa Fe Indian School during their All Staff Wellness Resource Fair 🌿

We’re grateful to share space, offer small moments of care through our intention planting activity and fresh lemon + cucumber water, and connect with staff while sharing more about Tewa Roots Society services and programs.
