Millions suffer from Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. While there is no such cure, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help brain function and limit the possibility of long-term health problems. To bring awareness to this important cause, wear purple for Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. 💜

Before you head to sleep, do you listen to music? Studies have shown that music can significantly improve sleep quality, both in falling asleep, and in promoting deeper sleep.

Some studies have shown that sedative music, such as the kind you would use for meditation can cause deeper sleep. Other studies have shown that more restful and deeper sleep can come from listing to relaxing music for about 45 minutes before bed. If you’ve never tried music before bed before, give it a try tonight, and let us know how it worked in the morning! And if you have, what do prefer to listen to before bed? Let us know in the comments below, and sweet, sweet, musical dreams! 😴

September is recognized as 'Self-Improvement Month.' Here are 5 ways you can focus on your well-being:
1. Take a class (virtually, even!) - Whether it is ballroom, cooking, or physics, sign up for a class that interests you. Not only will you learn something new, you will meet others with similar interests and most likely really enjoy it.
2. "Fall" into cleaning - Not literally, we just mean as with spring cleaning, do a major cleaning this fall as well. It is amazing how much better you feel with a clean home, and how much more productive you become!
3. Plan out your goals - Without a plan a goal is just a dream. Turn those ideas, desires and dreams into reality with a well thought out plan.
4. Start your day earlier - This gives you more time to accomplish and tackle tasks on your to-do list.
5. Incorporate new exercises into your routine - Being in good physical shape is important when it comes to mental health!

Supportive Living Garden update! 🪴🪏 We have two good size pumpkins so far from our monster vine! Maybe more to come. 🎃

The gladiolas are blooming & so are the nasturtiums but you have to look under all of the leaves for them. 🌸🌼

Our mystery vine has been identified as a cucumber! 🥒 In all of the previous gardening years, never has one been planted... So it's anyone's guess how it ended up here.

Coloring isn't just for children! 🖍
Many books tout the benefits of coloring — a thing kids have known for ages. Coloring can help you channel your inner artist, de-stress and bring a sense of peace. It even provides an opportunity to refocus our attention. 🤓
Here's a few reasons coloring, even as an adult, can be calming:
-Attention flows away from ourselves. A simple act, such as coloring, takes your attention away from yourself (and those things that are stressing you out!)
-It relaxes the brain. When thoughts are focused on this simple activity, your brain tends to relax.
-Low stakes make it pleasurable. Go ahead: color outside the lines! The outcome of coloring isn’t predictable or prescriptive. It can be as neat — or as messy — as you choose, and this is one of its relaxing perks.
