Missing K-9 Officer

On June 7, 2026, K-9 Officer Elliot went missing following a training exercise at the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1100 Clarks Road New Bern, N.C.

K-9 Elliot was last seen entering the woods near the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone who sees K-9 Elliot is asked to contact Craven County Communications at 252-633-2357.

We are heartbroken to hear of his passing. We are all thinking of his family, the department and everyone he helped during this time of sorrow and grief. 💙 Such a sweet boy! He will truly be missed.

🐾Honoring a Hero: Farewell to New Bern K9 Fredy 💔

It is with a heavy heart that the New Bern Police Department shares the passing of K9 Fredy. After more than seven years of exemplary service, K9 Fredy crossed the rainbow bridge late last week.

Fredy wasn't just a K9 officer, he was a loyal partner to Sgt. Fulton, a beloved member of our law enforcement family and a dedicated protector of our city.

From his swearing-in in 2019 to his retirement, Fredy dedicated his life to duty, assisting in more than 150 arrests. His tireless work ethic was only matched by his love for his handler.

We ask the community to join us in keeping Sgt. Fulton, his family, and the entire police department in their thoughts during this difficult time. Thank you for your service, Fredy. You have earned your rest.
