There is something about a sunset that reminds us every ending carries the promise of a new beginning.

As the sun settled behind the cross at Greenleaf Memorial Park this evening, it served as a quiet reminder of the hope that anchors our faith. While we grieve those we love and miss, we do not grieve without hope. The cross stands as a timeless symbol that love is stronger than death, light overcomes darkness, and through Christ, there is the promise of eternal life.

For every family who has entrusted a loved one to our care, please know that Greenleaf is more than a cemetery. It is a place of remembrance, peace, and hope—a sacred place where memories are cherished and faith points us beyond today’s sorrow.

“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” — John 11:25

May this beautiful sunset bring comfort to all who need it tonight. ❤️

Meet one of our “guest mowers”… Chip Dombrowsky! 🌱☀️

After several days of rain, our grounds needed some extra attention last week. Someone in the lawn care business recently shared something that really stuck with us:

“The rain speeds up the work but slows down the workers.”

That’s about as true as it gets. Every rainy day means the grass grows faster, but it also means fewer opportunities to mow.

We’re incredibly grateful for our dedicated grounds crew who work tirelessly to keep Greenleaf Memorial Park looking its best. But we’re also very thankful for team members like Chip Dombrowsky, who stepped away from his regular duties and climbed on a mower to help us get caught up. Along with several others who pitched in, Chip reminded us what teamwork is all about!

It takes an entire team, all pulling in the same direction, to care for a place that means so much to so many families.

Thank you, Chip, for your willingness to jump in wherever needed. And thank you to EVERYONE of our staff, friends, and family who rolled up their sleeves last week to help us move forward.

Keeping Greenleaf beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained isn’t just our job—it’s our mission. 🌿💚

A New Chapter Begins at Greenleaf Memorial Park

For many in our community, the temporary office trailer became a familiar sight after Hurricane Florence. Following the flooding of the cemetery office, it served an important purpose by allowing Greenleaf Memorial Park to continue serving families during a challenging time.

Since acquiring Greenleaf last fall, one of our goals has been to remove that trailer and begin restoring the beauty and character of the cemetery. While it faithfully served its purpose, it had outlived its original role, and today we’re happy to share that it has officially been removed from the property.

This is more than just moving a trailer—it’s another meaningful step forward.

We are now one step closer to beginning construction of a new, permanent cemetery office that will better serve the families and community who place their trust in us. We look forward to sharing updates as construction gets underway in the near future.

In the meantime, our temporary office is conveniently located at:

📍 3338 Wellons Blvd., New Bern, NC (near the Goodwill Store)

Thank you for your patience, your encouragement, and your continued support as we invest in the future of Greenleaf Memorial Park. We are committed to honoring the past while building something that will serve families for generations to come.

The best is yet to come. 💚

🌅 The sun may be going down… but the work isn’t.

After several days of nearly nonstop rain, our mowing schedule at Greenleaf Memorial Park has fallen behind—but we’re determined to catch up!

While our day crew has been working hard throughout the day, our “night crew” has been putting in extra hours until the last bit of daylight fades. Tonight, that meant Ray Gaskins on the tractor, Brooks Bennett on the push mower, and Rex Bennett on the riding mower—doing our part to keep Greenleaf looking the way the families we serve deserve.

Nature doesn’t always cooperate, but we’re committed to getting caught up as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your grace, your encouragement, and for trusting us to care for this sacred place. ❤️

🌿 Exciting Improvements Underway at Greenleaf Memorial Park 🇺🇸

At Greenleaf Memorial Park, we are committed to maintaining a beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming environment for the families we serve. Over the past several weeks, our team has been hard at work enhancing the appearance of the park and making improvements that will benefit visitors for years to come.

Some of the projects completed so far include:
🌳 Removal of overgrown shrubbery at the entrance of the park
🌳 Removal of several trees that needed to be taken down
🌸 Planting new flowers and landscaping enhancements
🚜 Clearing and preparing areas for future beautification efforts

These improvements are being made with our families and visitors in mind, helping to create an even more serene and dignified setting for remembrance and reflection.

If you visit the park in the coming weeks, please know that this is still very much a work in progress. Some areas where shrubbery has been removed may appear unfinished while we wait for grass and new landscaping to become established. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these improvements continue to take shape.

A very special thank you goes to Ray Gaskins and Donald Murphy (Maureen Murphy) for their hard work, dedication, and countless hours invested in this project. Their commitment to Greenleaf Memorial Park and the families we serve is truly appreciated.

We look forward to sharing more updates as this transformation continues and thank you for allowing us the privilege of caring for this special place. ❤️

🌸 A Little Time, A Lot of Care 🌸

This afternoon, after serving families at the funeral home, Brooks and Rex carved out a little time to plant new summer flowers around the Greenleaf Memorial Park sign.

Projects like this are part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the park, ensuring it remains a beautiful, peaceful place for families to visit, reflect, and remember their loved ones. Every flower planted and every improvement made is done with the families we serve in mind.

We’re also working on several other beautification and enhancement projects throughout the park, and we’re excited to share more updates in the coming weeks.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of caring for this special place.

🌺 Stay tuned—there’s much more to come! 🌺

🌿 A Big Thank You to Our Young Helper at Greenleaf Memorial Park! 🌿

Yesterday, we had a very special member of the crew helping with our ongoing beautification project at Greenleaf Memorial Park!

Sullivan, the son of our Family Service Counselor, Nicole Townsend, spent the day outdoors lending a hand as we continue removing overgrown shrubbery and enhancing the beauty of the park. From picking up pinecones to gathering limbs from bushes being trimmed and removed, Sullivan jumped right in and worked alongside the team with an incredible attitude and a smile on his face.

It’s always inspiring to see young people take pride in helping their community, and Sullivan’s enthusiasm made a big impact on everyone around him. He truly enjoyed being outside, getting his hands dirty, and contributing to the project.

👏 Thank you, Sullivan, for your hard work, positive spirit, and willingness to help make Greenleaf Memorial Park even more beautiful. We appreciate you!
