Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation Founded by Ali & Joe Torre in 2002 to end the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education. These rooms are staffed by a master’s-level therapist.

By providing resources and support, our young people are able to cope with their trauma and find hope, healing, and empowerment for their futures. Our model is unique because it provides both clinical intervention and prevention services. At our school locations, we establish a safe room – known as Margaret’s Place, named after Joe Torre’s mother. In this setting, we:

-Have group and individual c

ounseling for young people impacted by violence and abuse.
-Hold workshops for teachers to build a safer school environment.
-Hold workshops for parents to make homes and communities stronger.
-Raise awareness on how to prevent violence.
-Empower young people to become advocates and leaders.

As Leslie and Em wrap up their internships as Youth Program Facilitators, we’re celebrating not only what they’ve contributed to Safe At Home, but also the growth they’ve experienced along the way. 💛

Both began their journeys as young people connected to our in-school Margaret’s Place program and went on to support students, create activities and resources, assist with campaigns, and help foster safe and welcoming spaces at our school sites. Their stories are a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people are given opportunities to learn, lead, and grow.

We’re excited to see what’s next for Leslie as she heads to UC Irvine to continue her studies in Psychology, and for Em as she pursues a future working with children while continuing her passion for writing and storytelling.

A special thank you to Gabby Gonzalez for the mentorship, leadership, and support she provided throughout their internship experience.

At Safe At Home Games this season, fans will have opportunities to learn more about healthy relationships, access local resources, and join the conversation about ending the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education.

Creating safe, supportive spaces for young people starts with investing in the people who support them. ✨

This week, Safe At Home staff came together for a flower pressing workshop led by our resident artist and NY Office Manager, Julia Borowski. 🌸

Through hands-on art-making, staff explored themes of growth and renewal while learning creative techniques that can be incorporated into school settings, therapeutic spaces, and restorative practices.
