The WMARI Community Meeting is back tonight!

These meetings are always better when more perspectives are represented. People in recovery, families, providers, community partners, advocates, and neighbors all bring something valuable to this conversation.

Take your seat at the table, either at The HILLS or on Zoom, at 6pm! We would truly love having you there.

Western Maine really showed up yesterday! Most of our team attended the 8th Annual Opioid Response Summit in Bangor alongside volunteers and friends from Healthy Oxford Hills, our local Comprehensive Addiction Medicine Program, The Larry Labonte Recovery Center, and Chris’ Haven of Hope. We were very honored that WMARI staff Kari, Tia, and Nikkie had opportunities to share their stories as Voices of Recovery during breakout sessions.

One message from yesterday’s summit that will stay with us: hope is not simply something people either have or do not have. It can be nurtured, strengthened, and made more accessible through practicing real skills, not wishful thinking.

We left this event, as always, feeling extremely grateful for the growing statewide community doing this work and newly energized for what comes next here at home!

This weekend was another perfect example of why we're so passionate about making space for recovery support to happen outside the usual places! ⛺🌞

Our second annual Recovery Outings Camping Trip gave us two beautiful days and nights at Bethel Adventure Campground. The weather was perfect, and we packed a lot into the weekend: BBQ, games, s’mores, swimming, fireside meetings, and a somewhat humbling hike up Mt. Will. 😅

The best parts, as usual, came from the people. People with nearly four decades in recovery and people at the beginning of their journey. People camping sober for the first time. People showing up nervous to socialize and leaving connected. People who made it up the mountain when they weren’t sure they could. People being brave and real about their wins and the hard stuff too.

We enjoyed so much food, so many laughs, new friendships, old friends in a brand new life, some magical firsts, and activities we had done before, but not like this! Countless moments that would have sounded impossible to some of us just a few years ago.

Big love to everyone who joined us, helped out, supported each other, and made this trip what it was. We’re very grateful we got to spend the weekend with you! 🌠🏕
