Massachusetts Department of Health has issued a report on the poor air quality we are all experiencing right now due to the wildfires in Canada.

Please be aware that children, especially those with asthma, are particularly vulnerable to the effects.

What can you do?
🩺Monitor air quality on AirNow.gov
🩺Levels 0-50 are great
🩺Levels 51-100 are fine for most but can be challenging for children with asthma. Keep an eye on them and make sure you have a supply of their medications on hand
🩺Levels 101-150 can be difficult for all children. Limit outdoor activity and strenuous exercise. Take breaks from outside.
🩺Levels 151-200 are unhealthy. Spend most time indoors. Keep windows closed, use air conditioners when possible and a HEPA air filter to keep the air clean. Avoid contributing to air pollution with smoking or frying
🩺Levels above 200 are extreme. Avoid going outside.

Although poor air quality typically affects the lungs, people with heart conditions can also be affected. Monitor for cough, shortness of breath or weakness.

The Town of Norwell has issued a boil water warning for the town which goes beyond boiling water for drinking. Please make sure to read and follow instructions if you are a Norwell resident in order to stay safe.

E. coli is typically a gastrointestinal bacteria. If your children develop signs of severe diarrhea, especially if associated with bloody stools and/or fever, please reach out to us for an evaluation.
