Reasons Why Kids Don't Use:
Why are youth choosing not to use substances?
Data from the Norwich Youth Voices Survey (December 2025) shows that many young people are making intentional, healthy decisions—and their reasons matter.
Top reasons youth reported:
Alcohol: being underage, physical health, not wanting to lose control, and fear of consequences
Ma*****na: physical health, being underage, not wanting to lose control, and fear of consequences
Va**ng (ni****ne): physical health, personal disapproval, being underage, and not wanting to lose control
These responses remind us that youth do care about their health, their future, and making smart choices.
By reinforcing these values and continuing open, honest conversations, we can help more young people stay substance-free.
Let’s keep uplifting the reasons that make a difference 💛
