Every athlete hits a wall where physical training alone isn't enough β€” that's where mental skills training comes in. Our Sports & Performance Psychology work focuses on the skills that actually move the needle under pressure: staying composed after a mistake, building real confidence through preparation, and learning to trust your training when it counts most.

These aren't traits you're born with β€” they're skills you build, just like anything else in your sport. If you've got a young athlete looking to take their mental game as seriously as their physical one, we'd love to help.

This month, we're getting to know Joyce Kuribayashi a little better. From childhood dreams of advocacy to the quiet, unglamorous truth about what progress actually looks like, their answers are a great reminder that growth β€” for our clients and for us β€” rarely follows a straight line.

A few favorites from this month's questionnaire: a physics book that reframes how we understand time, a Sunday at work that confirmed a career path, and the reminder that "growth can be incredibly quiet." Swipe through to read the full Q&A. πŸ’¬

We tend to think of getting help as a last resort. But some of the most meaningful work happens before things fall apart β€” when there's still room to reflect, adjust, and grow.

No emergency required. Just a willingness to look a little closer at what's going on.

This fall, we're bringing two new art offerings to G3! 🎨

A Year in Postcards kicks off October 22nd (6:30–8:30pm) with an in-person initial session, open to all adults. Art-making offers a different kind of processing β€” one that doesn't always need words.

The Neurographic Art Group begins October 23rd (6:30–8pm, ice cream social to follow!) for middle and high school students, exploring how mark-making and reflection can go hand in hand.

Both groups meet at Galvin Growth Group. Details and registration link in bio.

Scroll for examples of both types of artwork!

Back-to-school season has a way of sneaking up on all of us. πŸŽ’βœ¨ In her latest blog post, art education consultant Barbara Stump is talking about something we don't discuss enough: how the spaces we live and study in actually shape how we feel. Research shows that small details β€” natural light, a plant on your desk, even the view outside your window β€” can genuinely lift your mood and help you focus. Whether you're heading off to your first year of college or just refreshing your workspace at home, Barb's got some budget-friendly ideas for making your space feel like yours. When big emotions show up as big behavior, it's easy to feel like you're being tested. But most of the time, kids aren't giving us a hard time β€” they're having a hard time. Their nervous system is doing exactly what nervous systems do when they're overwhelmed and don't yet have the words or skills to say "I'm not okay."

That doesn't mean there aren't limits. It means the limits can come with understanding instead of frustration.

We see this shift happen often β€” in parents who start responding to the feeling underneath the behavior, not just the behavior itself.

Reduced screen time is not just for kids!! As we head out of the summer months and back to a more consistent work schedule, you may find yourself in front of your computer screen more often or unwinding with TV at night. Taking time away from the screen has big benefits -- these are just a few!
