Sixty-eight years ago, my mother brought me into this world.
And somehow, through all the years, through all the hardships life carried her through, she never lost the sparkle in her eyes when she looked at me.
There is something profoundly healing about being looked at with love for a lifetime.
My mother did not give me a perfect world.
No parent can.
But she gave me moments of warmth, tenderness, laughter, care, and connection that stayed alive inside me long after the moments themselves had passed.
As I mature, I understand more deeply what a gift devotion really is.
To continue showing up.
To continue caring.
To continue seeing someone with affection after decades of life have weathered both hearts.
Today, on my 68th birthday, I find myself filled with gratitude for the woman who first held me, first saw me, first smiled at me, and never completely lost that loving light in her eyes for me.
That sparkle mattered.
It still matters.
And perhaps one of the greatest gifts a mother gives her child is not perfection, but the enduring experience of being loved across time.
I carry that love with me still. ❤️
