I am thrilled to formally announce the opening of Birth Roots’s sibling practice,

Caring for folks who need midwifery care across the lifespan has always been a passion—
You may know how truly bittersweet it is for folks to “graduate” from home birth care…if I’m lucky, I will get to see them again for another birth…but if that chapter has closed, or is closed for an extended time…I miss my people!!

Now, with Trillium, your midwife is available for all things care, and what most folks understand as “gyne” care (I’m a midwifery enthusiast, so I leave that word to the docs and claim this care under midwifery).

Midwives like me are experts in not only low risk, physiologic birth, but are also passionate and skilled with care that I am now offering under the umbrella of Trillium. And the best part? I’m in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO of Illinois!

So the next time you’re thinking it would be great to receive truly individualized and personal care for your intimate health, count on Trillium. And yes! I’m still here lovingly attending prenatal clients and obsessing about home birth.

And you can see me at Trillium for:
✨ Annual wellness care and preventive health
✨ Family planning (all methods except Nexplanon)
✨ Vaginal/vulvar concerns
✨ Menstrual concerns
✨ Gender-affirming hormone therapy
✨ Menopause and perimenopause care
✨ Medication abortion (up to 10 weeks gestation)
✨ Miscarriage support

Can’t wait to hold space for you and support you on your whole person reproductive health journey soon. xoxo

What a great day at .and.bumps Chicago today! Such an honor to have a table and get to talk to dozens of expecting and parenting families. And what a blast to share info on for all birth settings and at my class.

Highlights of the day were definitely:
✨ Seeing many perinatal professional friends and former clients (so many wonderful hugs!!)
✨Being the queerest, most neurodivergent-friendly space! Yes, my spicy friends, I see you, and I’ve got you!
✨Meeting folks who follow this account and getting all the affirmation about the impact of this content and my work.

So — many thanks to all who stopped by, and I hope to hear from you!!

…I totally forgot to make a sign-up sheet, so please do reach out if you’d like to connect as professionals or for midwifery care and services!

It’s no secret the birth can be INTENSE in the discomfort realm…and even though some of us don’t want to dwell on pain in labor, let’s face it, it can be painful.
Even if that pain has a purpose.
So make sure you know *all* your options for dealing with labor pain!

I’ll be offering a free class on pain management in labor at this year’s .and.bumps expo for Chicago, held next Sunday at the Westin Chicago Lombard: 11:30am in Classroom A.

Please stop by the Birth Roots booth any time from 11-3 to chat with me and my student Andrea, and come to my class to load up on empowering info that can help you out regardless of your

To my fellow healers, birth workers, and mental health providers: we spend our days holding space for the "desert times" of others. We bear witness to the stress, the uncertainty, and the emotional roller coasters of our clients.

But who holds space for you?

Sunday, April 26 3pm: Caring for the Caretaker: An Invitation to Downregulate and Deepen 🌿

I am so honored to partner with Birthroots Community Midwifery in Oak Park to host "Downregulate and Deepen," a somatic sound bath and healing experience designed specifically for renewal.

As we move through the Spring Equinox—a time of equal light and darkness—it is the perfect season to thaw the ground of our own nervous systems and tend to the seeds we’ve planted.

What to Expect:
This is a trauma-informed, evidence-based somatic experience. We aren't just "relaxing"; we are actively shifting the body from a state of depletion to a state of alignment using:
• ✨ Grounding & Movement: Tuning forks and intentional movement to clear energy and set our collective intention.
• 🌬️ Vocal Embodiment: Gentle humming and breathwork to stimulate the Vagus Nerve, moving the body into a parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) state.
• 🌈 Chakra Toning: Using specific vocal tones to align the body’s energy centers, from the "I AM" of the Root to the "I KNOW" of the Crown.
• 🥣 Somatic Sound Bath: A 20-minute immersion with singing bowls.

Why Sound?
The resonance of singing bowls isn't just "nice to hear"—it is a physiological tool. Studies (including those found on PubMed) show that these vibrations can lower cortisol, reduce blood pressure, and alleviate the physical tension that comes from chronic caregiving.
Join us in Oak Park to reclaim your calm and connect with a community that understands the weight of the work you do.
📍 Location: Birthroots Community Midwifery, Oak Park
✨ Hosted by: Story of Us & Birthroots

The burden is heavy—let’s rest and renew together. Birth workers spend their lives co-regulating with others, holding space through the intensity of the threshold. But who holds the space for you ? Downregulate & Deepen is an intentional somatic gathering designed specifically for the

Blog post to help folks sort through the difference between home and birth center birth and care overall. Timely again…

04/17/2026

This week, the Chicagoland birth community has been all abuzz—and over 100 families are scrambling to find a soft landing—when announced their sudden closure.
Many families will turn to hospital-based midwifery practices, while many others are looking into their options for and others will land at the wonderful birth center at in Berwyn.
I have supported at least a dozen clients over the years who started care at one of the local birth centers and transferred. Here are the biggest differences and similarities between home and birth center births.
✨ Both birth settings focus on low risk, physiologic birth—minimal intervention and client autonomy.
✨ As a CNM, I’m able to offer a similar level of clinical support as the birth centers, including the ability to prescribe medications and support folks with slightly more complex medical concerns.
✨ Birth centers have transfer arrangements, including ambulance agreements, to facilitate efficient hospital transfers. In home birth, we make individualized hospital transfer plans with each family we serve.
✨ I carry all the same emergency equipment and meds as the birth centers offer, including oxygen and IV fluids. The only thing I don’t offer is nitrous oxide for pain relief.

All home birth midwives offer complimentary consultations, so if you’d like to connect to see if Birth Roots is a good fit for you, please reach out so we can connect and see if this is where you’d like to land. Either way, best wishes to you if you are facing this major shift in your plans. Everyone deserves a place to give birth where they feel safe, respected, and at peace.

Oh! And check out my blog post on the topic for even more insights! Link in bio.
