Welcome to the 2026 RWJBarnabas Health Student Nurse Externs!

This summer, we proudly welcome 100+ nursing students from across the region for an immersive clinical experience designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional nursing practice. Over the next 10 weeks, each extern will be paired one-on-one with an experienced RN preceptor, providing individualized mentorship, guidance, and hands-on learning opportunities in a variety of specialty areas.

Through direct patient care experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration, and exposure to the culture of nursing excellence that defines RWJBarnabas Health, these future nurses will build the skills, confidence, and professional relationships that will help shape their careers. We’re excited to support their journey and invest in the next generation of nursing professionals!

Teamwork and collaboration in action! We’re excited to share that our team distributed 5,040 Naloxone and Wellness Kits to almost 60 community partners in May!

May’s distribution efforts bring our total to over 8,000 Naloxone kits delivered, more than halfway to our 15,000 goal! By teaming up with agencies and organizations across the state, we’re ensuring more individuals, families, and communities have access to this lifesaving medication.

Meeting people where they are, RWJBarnabas Health's Institute for Prevention and Recovery (IFPR) teams up with community partners to bring naloxone, a lifesaving opioid-overdose-reversal medication, to individuals and communities across the state.

“The goal is simple but urgent: ensure everyone has access to naloxone and knows how to use it,” said Shalanda Tudor, Manager of Community-based Recovery Support Services at IFPR. Read more about the initiative at https://ow.ly/V7jU50Z7bjT.
