We’re excited to invite school teams to apply for the School-Based Autism Assessment Team Course through the Oklahoma Autism Center!

This 5-day training is designed to give school teams practical, evidence-based training and interactive application focused on identifying children with Autism.

And this isn’t a training just for one person. This course is designed for a collaborative team that includes:

🧠School Psychologist
💬Speech-Language Pathologist
📚Special Education Teacher

What will your team learn?
✔️Comprehensive evaluation practices
✔️Evidence-based approaches to identifying Autism
✔️ADOS-2 training
✔️Hands-on, interactive application
✔️A team based approach to assessment
✔️Tools and knowledge your team can take back to your school

📅Training Dates
Days 1 & 2: September 29-30, 2026- OKC | Comprehensive Evaluation
Days 3 & 4: November 4-5, 2026- OKC | ADOS-2 Training
Day 5: March 5, 2027- Virtual | Wrap-Up

💰Cost: $600/team

Thanks to partial funding provided by the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the Oklahoma Autism Center is able to offer this 5-day course at a reduced team rate.

There are so many toddler moments that can look tiny on the outside… but mean so much developmentally.🥹

A pause.

A glance.

A change in expression.

A moment where they stop what they’re doing because they noticed something happening with someone else.

Those little moments can be easy to overlook when you’re busy navigating snacks, tantrums, shoes that MUST be put in independently, and whatever random object your toddler has decided is their most prized possession that day.😂

It’s not about checking boxes or wondering, “Are we exactly on schedule?”

It’s about learning to recognize the little signs or growth that are happening right in front of you.

So this week, watch for the tiny moments.

Today was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.❤️

Our graduation ceremony was filled with moments we’ll never forget. Some of our little graduates proudly walked across the stage all by themselves. Some happily sat in their chairs to receive their certificates. Others needed a helping hand to make it to the finish line. And every single moment was absolutely perfect.

Because that’s what childhood is all about-not doing it the same way as everyone else, but being celebrated for who you are.

After receiving their certificates, we celebrated together with fresh fruit, cupcakes, laughter, and so many proud smiles. 🎓🧁❤️

These sweet faces may be heading off to their next chapter of life, but they’ll always be a part of our family.

To every child who has walked through our doors-thank you for letting us be part of your story. We’ve celebrated your first words, your first friendships, your biggest smiles, your growing confidence, and so many milestones in between. Watching you learn, grow, and become the incredible little people you are today has been one of our greatest blessings.

And to every family who will walk through our doors in the future, we can’t wait to love your little ones just as fiercely, celebrate every milestone, and cheer them on every step of the way.

Congratulations to our Early Foundations program and parents day out graduates! We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. You’ll always have a place in our hearts!❤️🎓

We are currently enrolling children 18 months to 2 1/2 years old who are walking and will continue accepting enrollments until each classroom is full for the fall.

Milestone Monday! 📚

Around 18 months, many toddlers begin to look at a few pages in a book with you. While it may seem like a simple activity, sharing a book together is an important social/emotional milestone that supports learning, connection, and communication.

When your child sits with you to explore a book, they are developing skills such as:
📖Building relationships-by sharing one-on-one time with a trusted caregiver.
👀Joint attention-which is the ability to focus on the same object or activity with another person-a foundational skill for communication and learning.
💬Early language development- by hearing new words, listening to your voice, and beginning to connect pictures with familiar objects and experiences.
❤️Social engagement- as they point, smile, imitate, or react to the story alongside you.

The best part? You don’t have to read every word or even finish the book! At this age, it’s perfectly normal for toddlers to flip pages, point to pictures, and move on after just a few minutes. Those shared moments of interaction are what matter most.

Remember, every child develops at their own pace, and milestones are meant to be a guide-not a checklist.
