This week, we welcomed Lyric Opera of Kansas City performers Bethany Jelinek and David Pelino to Santa Marta. They delighted our residents with beautiful performances from La Bohème.

This visit kicked off a new partnership with Lyric Opera's Opera Plus program. This program will bring world-class performances directly to Santa Marta with reserved seating, transportation support, and pre-performance talks that bring each opera to life.

The best part? One Santa Marta resident who had never seen an opera before told us, "I'm going to go to my first opera" — and she's genuinely excited about it. That's the power of cultural enrichment and lifelong learning.

The 2026-2027 season lineup includes La Bohème, The Marriage of Figaro, The Pirates of Penzance, and Aida. Reserved tickets are already sold out!

This just proves that life doesn't stop at retirement — it evolves.

Faith knows no borders, and neither does family.

Last month, Santa Marta welcomed Sr. Anthony, Mother Superior of St. Anne's Congregation in India, on her third visit since we opened our doors in 2005. She came to see Sr. Sobha, a member of her sisterhood who now calls Santa Marta home.

Their reunion is a reminder that our mission of faith-centered care is built on partnerships with people who share our devotion to service, no matter where they call home.

We recently hosted Pam Kramer, CEO of Kansas City World Cup 2026 right here at Santa Marta!

Pam shared the incredible behind-the-scenes story of how our city captured the world's attention and became known as the "Heart of the World Cup."

It was a reminder of what happens when our community comes together with collaboration, spirit, and genuine Midwest hospitality. Thanks to all who attended!

Our residents got a special treat this week when Jim Clark from the Eva Reynolds Fine Art Gallery stopped by in full period costume to share his passion for art, history, and the Renaissance Faire. From tax-collecting dragons to tales of the Tudor court, it was an afternoon of laughter, learning, and pure joy.

This is what our arts programs are all about—bringing creativity, culture, and community to life at Santa Marta.

Every mission needs people willing to carry it forward.

Santa Marta's Board of Directors plays a vital role in guiding the strategy, stewardship, and future of a community where lives truly flourish, and we're still accepting applications for terms beginning January 2027.

Are you a practicing Catholic with a passion for our mission? We'd love to hear from you. Reach out to Dan Jacobson at [email protected] to learn more about serving on our Board.

Look. Listen. Laugh. Linger. Leave something behind.

Father Gilow often shares these Five L's with residents at Santa Marta, and they've become a daily guide for the way many choose to live each day.

Whether it's serving on a resident committee, participating in chapel ministries, or simply spending time with a neighbor, these small values shape a life of purpose and connection.

Over 40 residents of all faiths gathered last week to ask Father Harry anything they were curious about regarding Catholicism. The questions, conversations, and connections made this a truly special afternoon.
