School mornings can be really hard when anxiety takes over.

I created a practical, on-demand course for parents whose children struggle with school anxiety, avoidance, or refusal.

We cover what’s happening underneath the anxiety, what to say (and what not to say), how to reduce power struggles, and how to help your child build confidence through manageable action.

It also includes a 12-page Morning Support Guide & Scripts that parents can keep handy for those difficult mornings.

All for about the cost of 3 copays, or less than a typical therapy session.

Learn more and get instant access:

Providing practical, evidence-based strategies for parents to help anxious children manage mornings and improve school attendance. Empower your child's confidence today.

Adjustment Disorder vs Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Feeling constantly overwhelmed or like your stress is not going away even when life has settled down?

Adjustment disorder and generalized anxiety disorder can look similar, but they are different conditions. Adjustment disorder is usually a response to a specific life stressor and tends to decrease in severity after the event. Generalized anxiety disorder is more persistent and involves ongoing worry that is difficult to control across different situations.

If you are noticing that anxiety or stress is affecting your daily functioning, mood, or relationships, therapy can be a helpful space to understand what is going on and learn coping tools that fit your situation. This video is not a diagnosis! It’s to help you feel seen and educated.

Stop Trying to Save Your Parents

Growing up with emotionally immature parents does not mean it is your job to fix them.

They can choose to grow but sometimes they do not because emotional growth feels unfamiliar and uncomfortable. As you become more emotionally aware, it is natural to want to guide them and teach them what you have learned. But that is not the role of a child.

You can suggest resources. You can express your needs. You can name what hurts.
But you cannot force insight, accountability, or change.

Many of us keep trying, hoping that if we just explain it the right way, they will finally become who we needed growing up. But just like a child cannot stop a divorce by crying, you cannot make a parent ready for something they are unwilling to face.

Healing sometimes means accepting that they may never meet you there and learning to give yourself what you did not receive.

If this resonates, take a moment today to ask yourself, what do I need that I have been hoping they would give me? Start there.

Recovery after a concussion or TBI is not just physical, it is emotional too.

If you have noticed changes in your mood, patience, identity, or the way you experience everyday life, you are not imagining it and you are not alone.

This part of recovery is often overlooked, but it matters.

I am hosting a free Zoom presentation on emotional recovery after concussion and TBI on the April 21st, 2026. If your recovery has required emotional healing too, this is for you.

👉 Check the pinned comment for the Zoom link details. All times are in Mountain Daylight Time.

👉Comment with what helped you emotionally heal from your injury.

When I was in college, I took a Psychological First Aid course with the , and I learned one thing I’ve thought about for years. When we are going through a crisis, one of the most helpful things we can do is not lie to ourselves.
We don’t have to overwhelm ourselves with every hard truth all at once, but even acknowledging a small, honest piece of what’s real can help us feel more grounded. It keeps us from feeling disingenuous and builds trust with ourselves. Getting through hard things takes heart, and that kind of strength cannot be built on denial.
If you’re struggling to be honest with yourself or need support navigating a difficult season, reach out here for therapy. You don’t have to do it alone.
