Sometimes the most important thing we can do for a child is simply recognize that they need us, and respond with compassion.

Kiara Gant, leader of our Children’s Unit at Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, shares an important message about why getting help early matters.

Children do not always have the words to explain what they are experiencing. Their pain may show up as changes in behavior, withdrawal, anger, fear, struggles at school or simply not seeming like themselves. That is why early support can make such an incredible difference. A compassionate conversation. A patient ear. A kind response. Connecting a child and family with the right resources at the right time. These moments matter.

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, we believe every child deserves to feel heard, valued, supported and hopeful. Our teams work every day to provide children and families with compassionate, trauma-informed behavioral healthcare when they need it most.

As Kiara reminds us, kindness and compassion are powerful, and getting help early can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

Listen to her message. Share it with a parent, educator, coach, counselor or anyone who has the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.

💙 Help early. Listen closely. Lead with kindness.

Our children are facing a mental health crisis, and addressing it will take all of us.

On September 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is proud to bring together an extraordinary group of leaders, clinicians, educators, advocates and community voices for our next CE Continuing Education Professional Business Development Series: Youth Mental Health Crisis: A Community Conversation.

This powerful panel discussion will focus on the real mental and behavioral health challenges facing young people today, and, more importantly, what we can do together to provide earlier intervention, stronger support, greater connection and hope.

We are honored to welcome an incredible panel:
🏈 Sugar Ray Grier — Former NFL player, Orange County Coach of the Year, educator and mentor
🎓 Tina Miller — Founder, Florida Recovery High Schools
🩺 Dr. Nasim Malik — Lead Child & Adolescent Physician, Central Florida Behavioral Hospital
💙 Marina Dahar — Director of Clinical Services, Central Florida Behavioral Hospital
🚨 Samantha Breslin — Leader, Devereux Mobile Crisis Unit
🧠 Ashley Pollin — Licensed Mental Health Clinician and Therapist, La Amistad Behavioral Health Services
⛪ Pastor Donnie Burchfield — Lead Pastor, New Wave Church

Different backgrounds. Different perspectives. One shared mission: helping our young people thrive.

Mental health does not exist in a silo. Schools, families, healthcare providers, faith communities, coaches, mentors, therapists, crisis teams and community organizations all have a role to play.

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, we believe some of the most meaningful change begins when we bring people together, start difficult conversations, share resources and build stronger pathways to care.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital was proud to participate in BHCon, Florida’s premier annual behavioral health conference, bringing together thousands of leaders, advocates, clinicians and changemakers committed to strengthening mental and behavioral healthcare across our state.

Events like BHCon give us an incredible opportunity to connect, collaborate, share resources and continue important conversations about improving access to high-quality behavioral health services for the communities we serve.

Pictured are Community Liaison, Rashad Bryant, and Assistant Director of Business Development, Gabe Fernandez, connecting with attendees and sharing more about the trauma-informed, compassionate care provided every day at Central Florida Behavioral Hospital.

Our continuum of care is designed to meet individuals and families where they are, beginning with children as young as five years old and extending through every stage of adulthood. Our specialized programs include:
•A dedicated children’s unit for ages 5–11
•Two specialized adolescent inpatient units, serving boys and girls
•Five adult inpatient units, including programming dedicated to mature adults
•Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs
•Dedicated Spanish-speaking programming
•A specialized trauma track
•Virtual IOP services for adolescents

From early intervention to intensive inpatient stabilization and continued outpatient support, our mission remains the same: to provide compassionate, individualized, trauma-informed care when people and families need it most.

We are proud to serve Central Florida and even prouder to stand alongside so many professionals at BHCon who share our commitment to advancing behavioral healthcare, reducing barriers to treatment and creating healthier communities.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital was proud to be part of Family Fun Fest, an incredible annual Orlando tradition bringing families together for one last celebration before the start of the school year! 💙

Over two exciting days at the Orange County Convention Center, more than 20,000 families came together for fun, connection and community. Our team was honored to be there sharing mental and behavioral health resources while spreading a message that is at the heart of everything we do: hope, compassion, kindness and connection.

We were thrilled to welcome a very special guest to our booth, Hippo Jones! 🦛❤️ With a heart seven times bigger than normal and the superpowers of love and kindness, Hippo Jones brought smiles to children and parents alike while reminding all of us how powerful a little kindness and compassion can be.

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, we believe stronger communities are built when people feel supported, valued and connected. Events like Family Fun Fest give us the opportunity to meet families where they are, share resources, encourage conversations about mental wellness and remind our community that hope and help are always within reach.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to meet our team and Hippo Jones. We loved being part of such an amazing weekend celebrating Orlando families! 💙🦛❤️

Today, Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is honored to host the VA and more than 100 passionate mental and behavioral health professionals, advocates and community partners united by one shared mission: caring for those who have so bravely served our country. 🇺🇸

For many Veterans, coming home does not mean leaving the battle behind. The experiences of service can leave lasting impacts from trauma, loss, sacrifice and experiences most of us will never fully understand. When our Veterans return home, they deserve a community ready to stand beside them with compassion, dignity, understanding and access to exceptional care.

Today, we recognize the extraordinary people who make that care possible: chaplains, counselors, therapists, nurses, physicians, social workers, care coordinators, mental health technicians, advocates and so many others who dedicate their careers to supporting our Veterans and their families.

Bringing more than 100 of these remarkable individuals together under one roof isn't simply an event, it's an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share knowledge, build better pathways to care and remind one another why this work matters.

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, we are proud to be a community leader and a place where people come together around a simple but powerful belief: Compassion matters. Kindness matters. Service matters. And no Veteran should ever have to face their struggles alone.

To everyone joining us today, and to every individual across our community who dedicates their life to serving those who served us, THANK YOU!

And most importantly, to our Veterans: we see you, we honor you and we are here for you. We are GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SERVICE!

If You Notice Something, Take It Seriously.

As a corporal in law enforcement, our Community Liaison Phil knows firsthand how important it is to recognize changes in behavior, and to take them seriously.

If someone you love is suddenly experiencing violent outbursts, verbal aggression, withdrawing or becoming unusually reclusive, or any behavior that seems different from their normal baseline, don’t dismiss it.

And if you hear, “They’re just seeking attention,” remember this:

If someone is seeking attention, they may be telling you they need it. Give them the attention they need, and help them get the support they deserve.

You don’t have to diagnose the problem or know exactly what to do. You just have to recognize that something has changed and reach out.

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, we’re here 24/7, 365 days a year, including holidays, with compassionate, trauma-informed care for individuals and families.

Help is only a call or a click away.

Sometimes, taking a concern seriously can be the first step toward changing a life.

08/16/2026

At Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, access to behavioral healthcare is about more than opening our doors. It’s about how people are treated the moment they walk through them.

Every person who comes to us has a story. Every family has a story. And often, reaching out for help takes tremendous courage.

That’s why our team is committed to providing trauma-informed, compassionate care that meets people where they are, with dignity, respect, understanding and without judgment.

From the first call to admission and throughout treatment, our goal is simple: remove barriers, create connection and help people get the care they need when they need it.

Behavioral healthcare should feel human. It should feel compassionate. And most importantly, it should be accessible.

We are incredibly proud of the dedicated professionals at Central Florida Behavioral Hospital who live that mission every single day and continue to serve individuals, families, first responders and communities throughout Central Florida.

When someone is ready to ask for help, we want to be ready to answer.
