The news never stops. But you’re allowed to pause.

Breaking news. Notifications. Another headline before you’ve had time to process the last one. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or mentally exhausted.

In this reel, Amy Eshleman of Coherence Counseling shares why we need space to take in information and process what it means to us.

Try putting your phone down, silencing notifications, or stepping outside for a few quiet minutes. Notice how you feel when you give yourself a little breathing room.

You can care about what’s happening in the world and still take a break from it.

Sometimes your body responds before you have words for what you’re feeling.

In this reel, Amy Eshleman of Coherence Counseling shares how a small hand movement can open a conversation. When someone pauses to notice what their body just did, they may recognize an urge to protect themselves that they hadn’t yet expressed.

In somatic therapy, getting curious about those moments can help you better understand how your body responds to stress and past experiences. You don’t have to have all the words right away.

What does “coherence” mean—and why is it at the heart of Coherence Counseling?

In Somatic Experiencing®, coherence describes the process of bringing together two sides of our human experience.

One side may hold the difficult, stressful, or traumatic events that have created upheaval in our lives—emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The other holds feelings of calm, peace, stability, and safety.

Healing does not mean ignoring the difficult parts of our story. It means learning how to bring these experiences together in a way that helps the mind and body feel more balanced, connected, and whole.

That is the meaning behind Coherence Counseling. Amy Eshleman helps individuals work through trauma, anxiety, and overwhelming life experiences using a compassionate, body-centered approach to mental health counseling.

If you are looking for trauma therapy, anxiety counseling, or Somatic Experiencing in the Oviedo or Orlando area, Coherence Counseling offers a safe place to begin.

Calming practices shouldn’t be reserved only for stressful moments. Try making breathing exercises, stretching, or mindfulness a natural part of your daily routine—just like brushing your teeth or getting ready for the day.

When stress does show up, you’ll already have tools in place to help you manage it. With regular practice, you may even find that stressful moments don’t feel quite as overwhelming.

“I’m not okay, but I will be okay.”

Difficult feelings don’t always disappear quickly, and that’s okay. Healing takes time, but what you’re feeling today doesn’t define where you’ll be tomorrow.

Coherence Counseling is currently accepting new clients, and now offers evening appointments on select weekdays, with sessions starting at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

Your brain isn’t a light switch, it’s more like a dimmer. After an evening of scrolling, notifications, and constant information, it can be difficult to simply turn everything “off” and fall asleep.

Creating a calming bedtime routine gives your brain and nervous system time to gradually slow down and shift into relaxation mode. Try reducing screen time, dimming the lights, practicing slow breathing, or enjoying a quiet activity before bed.

If stress, anxiety, or an overactive mind are affecting your sleep, Coherence Counseling offers compassionate mental health counseling in the Oviedo and Orlando area.

Social media can be both a blessing and a curse—but constant access to information can take a real toll on our mental and emotional health.

Our brains and bodies were not designed to process an endless stream of notifications, news, opinions, and online content 24/7. Without intentional breaks, this constant stimulation can contribute to anxiety, emotional exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, disrupted sleep, and nervous system overload.

Creating healthy social media boundaries is an important form of self-care. Turning off notifications, limiting screen time, taking regular digital breaks, and giving yourself quiet time can help your mind process information and allow your nervous system to reset.

If social media use is affecting your anxiety, stress levels, or overall well-being, counseling can help you establish healthier boundaries and reconnect with what helps you feel calm and grounded.

Amy Eshleman and Coherence Counseling provide compassionate support for individuals seeking anxiety counseling, trauma therapy, and improved emotional wellness in Oviedo and the Greater Orlando area.

Take a break from scrolling and schedule a free 20-minute consultation to learn how therapy may help.

Trauma can remain in the nervous system, not just in your memory.

At Coherence Counseling, Amy Eshleman uses a somatic approach to help clients explore the body's responses to overwhelming experiences. In one session, a simple hand gesture revealed how a client's body had instinctively tried to protect her during an accident, offering valuable insight into her nervous system's response.

Healing from trauma doesn't always require reliving every detail or telling the entire story. Sometimes, paying attention to a small movement or physical sensation can open the door to deeper understanding and lasting healing.

If you're ready to explore a different approach to trauma therapy, we're here to help. Coherence Counseling provides trauma therapy and somatic counseling for adults in Oviedo, Orlando, and throughout Central Florida.
