SUPPORT DURING MENOPAUSE!
A new 2026 review of 17 studies with more than 1,300 postmenopausal women found that aromatherapy showed promise for sleep, hot flashes, mood, anxiety, depression, physical comfort, and sexual function.
Lavender was the most studied oil, usually inhaled before bed. Other promising oils included neroli, common sage, fennel, lemon, peppermint, and blends with lavender, geranium, rose, rosemary, bergamot, or lemon.
Most studies used inhalation, but aromatherapy massage appeared to have stronger effects for overall and psychological symptoms, likely because it combines aroma, touch, relaxation, and skin absorption.
The evidence is still preliminary, but the pattern is encouraging: essential oils may offer gentle, practical support during menopause.
