🌟 Congratulations to our July Employee Spotlight, Brandy Elliott! 🌟

Brandy, a member of our Emergency Department team, was nominated by a coworker who recognized her for the positivity, confidence, compassion, and professionalism she brings to her work each day.

Brandy was praised for the warmth, kindness, and genuine acceptance she shows to patients during some of their most difficult moments. Her calm, caring presence helps patients feel supported and respected, while her teamwork and willingness to help make a meaningful difference to those working alongside her. Her coworker summed it up perfectly, describing Brandy as “a good person with a big heart."

The GHS Spotlight Award recognizes team members who exemplify our mission to promote well-being, accelerate healing, and inspire hope, and Brandy does exactly that through the compassionate care and support she provides each day. ✨

Congratulations, Brandy, and thank you for the positive impact you make on our patients, their families, and your fellow GHS team members!

We’re so thankful for the Granville Arts Council and this wonderful partnership with GHS.🎨

More than 200 art kits are making their way to our patients, visitors, and team members through our Volunteer Services Hospitality Cart. These coloring kits offer a chance to pause, get creative, and enjoy a few quiet moments during the day.

A big thank you to Granville Arts for helping us find another way to bring comfort and brighten someone’s day. 💙

More than 200 art kits are now making their way to patients, families, and staff at Granville Health System as part of a new initiative from the Granville Arts Council.

Granville Arts Board Member Lea Lea Ivey and volunteer Grace Kennedy recently delivered the first wave of kits, featuring mandala coloring as a simple creative activity for people spending time in a hospital setting. The project is being developed in partnership with Granville Health System and connects the Arts Council’s mission of making the arts accessible to everyone with the hospital’s work to support patients, families, and staff.

The kits will be distributed through the Volunteer Services Hospitality Cart, which travels throughout GHS twice a day, five days a week, offering complimentary coffee, water, snacks, and a little extra comfort to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Coloring can provide a quiet moment of focus during an otherwise stressful day. For patients, loved ones, and the staff caring for them, a few minutes with an art kit can offer a welcome break and a chance to slow down.

“As I worked in integrative oncology, I witnessed firsthand the benefits of providing a space for patients to process emotions as well as calm themselves in a clinical setting,” Grace said. “Escaping the phone and coloring a mandala allows the brain to experience a creative outlet and focus on the moment.”

This is part of an ongoing partnership between the Granville Arts Council and Granville Health System, with the goal of finding more ways that creative experiences can support patients, families, and hospital staff. We’re excited to see where this partnership leads and to bring the arts into another part of daily life in Granville County.
