Some calls make headlines. Most don’t.

Today, our crews responded to an emergency that drew a great deal of public attention because of the nature and location of the incident. For us, however, it was what we do every day: answer the call when someone needs help.

Led by Assistant Chief Connor Banks, 2nd LT Sofia Cole & 3rd LT Hannah Kessler, what began as a single emergency quickly evolved into a much more complex operation. Without missing a beat, our crews adapted, coordinated resources, and handled every challenge with the professionalism and calm that define Oxford EMS.

Working alongside our partners at Oxford Fire and VEMS, our crews hiked through the woods, and utilized boats to reach the patient, got them to an ambulance and safely transported them to the Hospital, but most importantly they helped save a life.

At the same time, we activated a full Search and Rescue response, including our K9 and Drone Teams, prepared for whatever the situation might require. That’s what readiness looks like. That’s what teamwork looks like. That’s what Oxford EMS looks like.

While two Oxford EMS ambulances were committed on scene and another was transporting an unrelated patient out of town, Seymour EMS stepped in to provide coverage for the Town of Oxford. Their support ensured our community remained protected while we focused on this complex incident, and we are grateful for their partnership.

This wasn’t about the attention. It was about the person who needed us and the dedicated professionals who answered without hesitation.

It’s who we are. It’s what we do. It’s Oxford EMS.

I couldn’t be prouder to serve as Chief of this incredible organization. Thank you to every member of Oxford EMS, our partners at Oxford Fire and VEMS, and our colleagues at Seymour EMS for your professionalism, teamwork, and unwavering dedication to the people we serve.

Oxford EMS had a great time spending the day at Camp An-Se-Ox, where our crews worked alongside camp leadership through realistic emergency scenarios designed to prepare their staff and our team to work together in a true emergency with our partners from Quaker Farms Fire Company

These hands-on training exercises gave everyone the opportunity to practice teamwork, communication, and emergency response skills in a safe learning environment. We appreciate the dedication of the camp leadership and staff who participated and helped make the training a success.

Hot weather is expected over the next several days. Take these steps to protect yourself and those around you:
- Stay hydrated
- Limit time outdoors during peak heat
- Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle
- Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and those without air conditioning

Over the past couple of weeks, Oxford EMS was proud to participate in the Washington Parade and the Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 Parade. Thank you to both communities for having us, it was a pleasure to attend and represent Oxford EMS alongside so many incredible first responders and services.
