Which fall habit feels easiest to start with: warmer meals, protecting your neck, or slowing down? Tell us in the comments 👇

Your fall wellness routine can be simple 🍂

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is a time to adjust to cooler, drier weather. Try adding warm soups and roasted vegetables to your meals, keeping a scarf handy on chilly days, and making room for more rest or gentle movement like qigong.

Think you’re too young for menopause? It might be perimenopause! 🌸

Anxiety, insomnia, body aches, brain fog, and irregular periods may be early signs of perimenopause. Many women experience these symptoms for years before reaching menopause, often without realizing that hormonal changes could be playing a role.

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause, and understanding the difference can help you make sense of what your body is experiencing.

Acupressure is an easy way to work with acupuncture points at home between treatments. At Healing with Zen, we use acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine to provide personalized support for menstrual health, PMS, fertility, and more.

Cooling drinks and cold drinks aren’t the same thing 👀🧊

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we look at both the energetic nature of a drink and its actual temperature. For example, coconut water, green tea, chrysanthemum tea, and pear juice are considered cooling—even at room temperature.

But ice water, iced coffee, frappuccinos, and other ice-cold drinks may be harder on digestion from a TCM perspective. If you often experience bloating, gas, sluggish digestion, or feeling tired after meals, try swapping your ice-cold drinks for room-temperature or warm beverages and see how your body responds.

Sometimes a small change in your daily habits can make a big difference. 🌿

Feeling tired all the time—even after getting 7–8 hours of sleep? 😴 Your fatigue may be about more than just sleep.

Low energy, afternoon crashes, feeling “wired but tired,” bloating, poor sleep, and needing caffeine to get through the day can all be clues that something deeper is affecting your energy.

From a Chinese medicine perspective, stress, hormonal imbalance, and digestion can all play a role in chronic fatigue. When stress affects your nervous system and hormones, digestion may slow down—and when digestion isn’t functioning optimally, your body may have a harder time producing the energy it needs.

At Healing with Zen in Pasadena, we look at the whole pattern behind your symptoms rather than fatigue alone.

If you’re constantly exhausted and wondering why, your body may be trying to tell you something. 💛
