Yesterday was Caim Counseling’s 8th anniversary.

Eight years ago, I opened a solo private practice with no real way of knowing where it would lead. Since then, Caim has grown through referrals, relationships, and the trust of clients who have allowed me to walk alongside them during some of life’s hardest moments.

As I spend time enjoying family time this week, it feels like a good time to stop and appreciate that.

Thank you to every client, colleague, physician, school professional, and community partner who has supported Caim over the years. I wouldn’t be here without you.

A heartfelt thank you to the 7th and 10th Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Councils for trusting Dr. Reinking and me to facilitate today’s training on Trauma. Thank you also to Sangamon County Public Health for hosting us.

We are grateful for all the participants who chose to join us for this day-long training. We had a variety of professionals from the social services, therapists, educators and administrators, LEOs, and court workers.

Trauma can be a heavy topic to talk about for several hours at a time but we hope that at the end of this you were left with a little bit of hope, a couple more skills, some reminders to take care of yourselves while you care for others, and a bit of momentum to continue in your trauma responsive efforts.

My adjusted summer hours will be in effect from June 1 through July 31. Some clients may receive emails regarding appointment time adjustments, and all clients are encouraged to check the portal regularly for scheduling updates.

Updated information now available: continuing education for educators and ICDVP professionals is now being offered, made possible through the efforts of the 7th and 10th Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Councils in providing credits for multiple professions (see graphic below for all CEU offerings).

Excited to announce a collaboration with Dr. Anni Reinking from Reinking Education Consulting, LLC early in June. Join us to explore trauma across the lifespan, vicarious trauma, and real-life mitigation ideas for professionals.

Dr. Reinking and Mary Beth have collaborated on many occasions by means of community involvement. However, this is the first time the duo will get to join professional forces for a training.

As this year comes to a close and we move into the next, I want to pause with gratitude.

To my clients, past and present, thank you for trusting me with deeply personal experiences and for showing up for yourselves in ways that are not always easy. Bearing witness to resilience, healing, and growth is one of the greatest honors of this work.
