Senior Day at the fair had an audience of one from Blissful Cottage this year, and that's perfectly alright with us. Laura wasn't going to miss it for anything, especially the animals.

She made her rounds, enjoyed a snack, and ended up dancing to some live music, where a sweet stranger stepped in to share a dance with her. We couldn't have written it better ourselves.

Continuous learning leads to exceptional care!

🌟 This past week, several of our wonderful medication passing team attended an all-day training class downstate. They spent the day advancing their knowledge and refining their techniques to ensure we continue providing the absolute best, safest medication management for our residents. We are so proud of their dedication to excellence!

Whether you are coming into the Cottage, or calling us on the phone, chances are you are greeted by Lillian!

You may know her as our wonderful front desk person, but everyone at the Cottage knows she is so much more than that! Not only does she answer the phones and the door Monday-Thursday, she is actively involved in resident activities, and is the assistant to the administrator!

The Cottage runs smoothly very much in part because of Lillian. 💜

Today, say hello to Lillian Sabin, Administrative Assistant at Blissful!

For Lillian, one of the most meaningful parts of her job is getting to know each resident individually. Whether it’s joking around, sharing a dance party, or simply seeing familiar faces each day, those relationships are what make the work special.

She says what makes Blissful different is the people:

“You can tell everyone is here for the right reasons. It is like a big family.”

That sense of family is exactly what Lillian hopes residents and their loved ones feel too—welcomed, cared for, wanted, and at home.

A few fun things to know about Lillian:

We had some very small, very fuzzy visitors at Blissful Cottage recently.

Three baby goats 🐐🐐🐐, just five days old, needed a place to be bottle fed every few hours, and our residents happily volunteered as goat sitters.

There was feeding, there was cuddling, and there was no shortage of smiles. It's the little things that make a day brighter, and this was one of those days.

Our residents rest easier at night 😴 knowing someone is there. Right now, we're looking for an Overnight Cottage Aide to be that person at Blissful Cottage.

The shift runs 11pm–8am, 2–4 nights a week. You'll check in on residents through the night and help keep the cottage clean and comfortable. No caregiving background needed — training is provided. Cleaning experience is a plus.

If you're a night owl, a student needing flexible hours, or just someone looking for steady part-time work with real purpose, this could be the role for you.

Once a month, our residents look forward to a very special visit from the Salvation Army.

A group of volunteers comes to Blissful Cottage to sing together, with someone at the piano 🎹 leading the way while everyone joins in. Some residents sing along with every word, others tap their feet or sway to the music, but everyone is part of the moment.

These visits have become a cherished tradition over the past few months, and it shows. There is something wonderful about watching a room full of residents come together over a familiar song. It is fellowship, it is joy, and it is exactly the kind of moment we hope to create here every day.

🎵 Music has a way of reaching people that words alone cannot, and we feel lucky to witness it firsthand each time the Salvation Army walks through our doors.
