Mindful Healing Massage LLC turned 8 last month! I wouldn’t be in business if it weren’t for my clients so this month, you’ll find a box at the studio. Just an update: my ankle is still on the mend from my sprain. I am in the studio today and fully booked but I will be gone Sunday/Monday to both heal and observe the holiday. I’ll be back in on Tuesday with openings next week for massage therapy!

✨ Story time ✨

About an hour before my first client on Monday, I fell down a flight of stairs and badly sprained my ankle. Like BADLY.

The last time this happened was 2022. I remember I was walking my dogs along the parkway. I still had my own practice but I was picking up shifts at a corporate chain that I had worked at on and off for 12 years because summer was slow for me. I tripped on a crab apple, sprained my ankle, and had to walk a MILE home with two dogs pulling me. When I called said corporate chain to let them know what had happened? They fired me. A 12 year veteran massage therapist. I was heartbroken.

When I called my clients at Mindful Healing Massage LLC on Monday to let them know what had happened? They were all gracious, loving, and cared about me. No one screamed or yelled. No one fired me. Everyone gave grace. Everyone was amazing and treated me well. People even asked “are you ok?” I was in the corporate world for a long time before my own practice and I can honestly say, nobody cares about you. You could give your blood, sweat, and tears, and they would just replace you. 🤷‍♀️

All of this to say, yes, missing work is stressful. Yes, rescheduling clients sucks. Yes, disappointing people is never the goal. But you can choose who you work with or who you work for - and I’m grateful not to call that dumpster fire of a corporate joke today, Monday, or any day, really. I’m grateful that that interaction solidified how I think and feel about corporate massage chains. 🗑️

I’m even more grateful for my clients and the life I have built. I BUILT THIS. I want you to know that you can design your own life and business too. You don’t have to settle for less. You’re in charge - and that’s so beautiful. Extra shout out to the clients on Monday that showed me so much love. You have no idea how much you guys fill my cup.
