Please join us in welcoming three new physicians to Rothman Orthopaedics! 👋

Dr. Abubakar Ahmed is a fellowship-trained, board-certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician joining our Central Jersey team. He will see patients in Bordentown, Hamilton, and Princeton.

Dr. William Johns is a fellowship-trained Sports Medicine Surgeon and former Rothman resident. He will see patients in Bryn Mawr, Malvern, and Center City.

Dr. Samuel Schrader is a fellowship-trained Hand & Wrist Surgeon joining our Jersey Shore team. He will see patients in Egg Harbor Township and Manahawkin.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Ahmed, Dr. Johns, and Dr. Schrader to Rothman Orthopaedics and look forward to the expertise they bring to our patients and communities.

Effective October 1, 2026, Rothman Orthopaedics will be out of network with Highmark Blue Shield and Federal Employee Program (FEP) plans for care provided in Pennsylvania.

This change does not impact appointments in New Jersey, which will remain in network. All other Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans also remain in network.

Rothman Orthopaedics has attempted to work in good faith to reach an agreement with Highmark that preserves patient access to high-quality orthopedic care. Rothman hopes to reach an agreement with Highmark but has not yet been successful.

Patients with Highmark Blue Shield or FEP plans are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to better understand their individual benefits.

For patients with upcoming appointments or those looking to schedule, our team is available to help explain coverage options, including available out-of-network benefits.

A Drexel graduate who earned his medical degree in 2001, Dr. Ilyas has continued to make an impact through his leadership, mentorship, research and commitment to orthopedic education.

Rothman's Dr. Michael G. Ciccotti recently served as the 2026 Visiting Professor for Vanderbilt University’s W. Ben Kibler Sports Medicine Lectureship. He presented on the evolution of sports medicine and current approaches to treating UCL injuries in throwing athletes.

The lectureship is one of the Vanderbilt University Department of Orthopaedics’ premier Visiting Professorships, honoring Dr. W. Ben Kibler, a pioneer in the treatment of the overhead-throwing athlete. Help us show Dr. Ciccotti some love in the comments!
