Please help me wish my incredible husband The Daddy Dudela a happy birthday. He’s selfless, puts up with any and all of my ideas and holds down the fort day in and day out.

And if you’re a partner questioning whether you should get in the birth pool to support the laboring mom, I promise you, he has gotten in the worst birth soup pool I’ve ever seen in my six years of birth work, (and I was the one who made it! S**t happens in labor 🤷🏼‍♀️ he got a son out of it 😂) so you’ll be fine.

Sometimes you show up to the hospital planning to get an epidural, but anesthesia is busy and your baby waits for no one…

And this is why in my doula practice I love to discuss Plan A, Plan B, Plan C with my clients.

What is your dream birth?
And what happens if baby or your body need alternative care options?

What expectations do you have for your care?
And what options are available to you in your setting of birth?
What are risks and benefits of those options?

And most importantly, what is important to you for you and your family while being cared for in birth and postpartum period, no matter how your birth unfolds?

What does your birth plan look like and who’s on your team?
If you haven’t considered any of this, consider this your sign!

You don’t need to be perfect.
You are already everything this baby needs.
Leave the noise outside your four walls. We all have our opinions and philosophies and education and studies that contradict each other, so at the end of the day, your intuition truly trumps it all.
