✨ TECAR Thursday: It’s not magic. It’s specificity.

The right tool is only as good as how you use it.

TECAR therapy uses high-frequency energy to influence tissue response, but the goal isn’t just to turn on a machine and hope for the best.

It’s understanding what we’re trying to accomplish, selecting the appropriate parameters, and paying attention to how your body responds.

Pain relief?
Tissue mobility?
Supporting recovery?

Different goals require a thoughtful approach.

At Advanced Movement + Balance, we don’t guess and hope. We assess, test, adjust, and reassess — because specificity beats guesswork.

Your pain is telling us something. Let’s figure out what.

That muscle twitch? Extremely satisfying for both the therapist and the patient. 👀

But it’s about more than the twitch.
Dry needling with Estim can stimulate the nervous system and targeted muscle tissue to help modulate pain, reduce excessive muscle tension, and improve muscle function.

I use it for a variety of reasons:
• Persistent or radiating nerve-related pain
•Blood Flow
•Recovery
• A muscle that just won’t turn off
• A muscle that just won’t turn on

But here’s the thing: the tool is only one piece of the puzzle.

Knowing which tool to use, when to use it, where to use it and what treatment or exercise prescription should follow is where clinical reasoning matters most.

The goal isn’t to keep chasing the twitch. It’s to use the right tool to help you move better, build capacity, reduce pain, and get back to doing what you love.

🏃‍♀️ We had a great time bringing this movement + running analysis event to student athletes!

We explored how our bodies move (and sometimes don’t move!) and how those movement patterns show up when we run using 3D running analysis.

The goal? Help athletes better understand their bodies, learn simple techniques to reduce injury risk, and build the foundation for better performance.

One of the best parts of what I do is connecting with our local community and helping athletes realize there’s more to performance than just running more miles. 💪

Want to bring an event to your cross country or track team?

What’s the best way to move better?

Dry needling isn’t going to give you lasting mobility on its own. The work you do afterward is what helps you build it.

Dry needling with e-stim has been a great addition to my practice because it helps us explore how the nervous system and muscles are responding, and guide what we do next.

In this case, we’re pairing muscles with their associated cervical nerve roots. This can be a game changer when our goal is to reduce pain, improve strength, and unlock new mobility.

But remember: this is a tool, not the whole solution.

We need to pair these changes with progressive strength training, mobility work, and movement-specific exercises to help build capacity and make those changes last.

At AMB, we’re not just chasing temporary relief. We’re working together to help you move better, build strength, and get back to doing what you love.

The goal isn’t just to feel better. It’s to build a body that can do more

Strength is important. But strength alone isn’t the whole picture.
Medicine ball slams. Thrusters. Squat jumps.

We’re training more than muscles.

We’re building:
💥 Power — the ability to produce force quickly.

🎯 Coordination — getting the entire body working together.

💪 Strength — building the capacity to handle greater demands.

🦴 Bone health — using progressive resistance and appropriate impact to support stronger bones.

These qualities matter when you’re sprinting, jumping, changing direction, carrying groceries, catching yourself when you stumble, or simply keeping up with life.

Training isn’t just about what your body can do today. It’s about building the capacity to keep doing what matters to you.

At AMB, we don’t just build strength. We build capacity for life.

CASE STUDY: Using TECAR Therapy to Support Tissue Healing

A very active 92-year-old male strained his rotator cuff after a fall. At two weeks post-injury, our focus wasn’t on pushing through the pain, but it was on understanding what his body needed to heal.

We used TECAR therapy (high-frequency electromagnetic energy) with specific settings selected for his condition to support the healing process, then paired it with the right exercises and education around pain management and normal tissue-healing timelines.

The result? About 90% improvement within two weeks.

But TECAR wasn’t the whole answer.
The real power came from combining the right tool with the body’s own ability to heal. Through movement, progressive exercise, education, and giving the patient the skills and confidence to participate in his recovery.

The goal isn’t to rely on a tool. It’s to use the right tool at the right time to help your body do what it’s designed to do.

Hypermobility can make it easy to go to the end of your range, but that isn’t the same as having support. In this clip I’m teaching a gymnast to find a stronger position without falling back into the patterns she’s used to.

That’s how we work. We don’t want to manage your pain or put a bandaid on the spot that hurts. We want to find what’s driving it, treat the full system, and build the strength and movement patterns that last.

If you’ve been told to just live with it, you don’t have to. Book a visit at ambphilly.com (link in bio).

Your running efficiency score shows how well your body handles the work of each stride.

When we shift load away from the spots that tend to get cranky and toward the muscles built to accept it and propel you forward, you get a smoother stride with less stress on your body.

One cue got us almost 5% better efficiency. Imagine what we could find in YOUR stride.
