What a beautiful story of friendship! Barbara and Joan recently reconnected right here at Whitehall Borough after sharing a room together—completely by chance. The two grew up side by side, from grade school through high school graduation, but hadn’t seen each other in years.

Joan was admitted first, and just a few days later, Barbara arrived—neither realizing they were about to be reunited. When Barbara walked into the room, she immediately recognized her old friend and said, “Hey, I know you!”

During their time with us, and while working with our therapy team, these wonderful ladies have truly enjoyed catching up and reminiscing. It’s so special to see a lifelong friendship rekindled in such an unexpected way. We’re honored to be a small part of their journey as they continue working toward returning home to their families.

Rich was kind enough to tell us about his experience at Whitehall Borough Post Acute:

“I went to Shadyside Hospital to have surgery due to an infection in my right hip. This has been my third stay at Whitehall and I keep coming back after my surgeries for a reason! At Whitehall, it’s like you’re at home. Everyone is friendly from the front door, to housekeeping, to nursing, to rehab. Suzanne and Carol have been my wonderful therapists and have encouraged me every step of the way. I do have another upcoming surgery in 2026 and plan on returning for more therapy if it is recommended by my doctor!”
