The experts kept saying: cut carbs to lose that weight

Years of this
I kept trying

But I had dampness and blood deficiency and although I intellectually understood the process because of my Chinese medicine training, I didn't see the one piece that matters…the dampness was eliciting an emotional response that made me feel like I was constantly missing out, doing it wrong or just generally unworthy

So, I would shift my diet…towards more dampness…ie: low carb sounded amazing…because the dampness was cloaking pain and in some ways it knew that releasing the damp would bring forth what I wasn't ready to feel or see…so…cheese sounded like an amazing idea

Until I saw all of this for real
And could hear my body within the noise

Her saying: if you really mean what you said about being fully willing to partner, then, please stop all the heavy foods and feel what has been hidden

85% of people i have ever treated for a chronic condition have dampness

Of those, likely 60% have been told to eat in a way that evokes dampness….and have also been told things like

Grains are bad for you
You need to be keto to reduce inflammation
You cannot eat legumes because they are inflammatory
Sugar is evil

All of these are human notions that do not stand as fact for every person

Magical
Complex
Wise
Language

Someone recently reached out to me with imaging results that showed their body was holding onto heat. They also told me that a practitioner they had seen suggested a high-fat, low-carb diet.

The first thing I said was, "You may want to reconsider that diet."

Why?

Because they're showing signs of hot inflammation. When the body is in a phase of hot inflammation, it needs renewal. It needs cooling. It needs the heat to be decreased.

Fats are an incredible source of energy, but they are also energetically warming. When we eat large amounts of fat, we're increasing the body's overall heat. In someone already experiencing hot inflammation, that can be a real detriment because we may accidentally propel the inflammatory process even further.

This is why understanding food beyond its nutrient components or its macros is so important.

Many people don't realize that much of modern dietary dogma can fuel discord in the body. Not because certain foods are "bad" and others are "good," but because very little intelligence is being applied to the relationship between the body, the food, the energetic nature of that food, and the condition of the body itself.

Everything our body does is giving us clues about what needs to happen next.

Yet so often food is approached through rigid ideas:

"Our ancestors never ate this."

"People who live the longest eat that."

"These foods spike insulin."

"Those foods spike glucose."

"These foods are inflammatory."

"Those foods are healing."

Much of it is being applied with great amounts of dogma and very little wisdom.

The reality is far more complex.

And honestly, far more interesting.

Because food is a language given to us by the Divine. It is a way of speaking directly to the essence of who we are and nourishing our physicality. Different foods do different things. Different bodies need different things. Each of us carries a unique template, and what nourishes one person may not nourish another.

This is where the intelligence of being nourished comes in.

Be Nourished is not another diet for you to follow.

It is a revolution in the way we approach nourishment. It is learning to apply wisdom, intelligence, and partnership with your own body.

If you're anything like me, you've read the diet books. You've taken the programs. You've followed the plans. I have too.

And after decades in medicine, what I've found is that there is an art to working with food in a compassionate, intelligent partnership with the body.

When we do that, we can achieve far more.

That is what Be Nourished is about.

A path of grace, intelligence, and partnership with the Divine.

I used to ask myself:
**Why don’t I just get to eat?**

It felt like everyone else in the world got to enjoy food, and somehow I didn't.

When I was in naturopathic school, I chose not to do all the food allergy and sensitivity testing. Not because I couldn't. Because I didn't want one more voice in my head telling me what I couldn't eat.

Then I watched many of my friends—who are now my colleagues—do all the testing.

And something happened.

Their lists got longer.

"Oh, I can't eat that."

"Now I can't eat this."

"I got more testing done and now I can't eat that."

"I think I'm reacting to these other foods too—I just haven't tested them yet."

It became a perpetual mantra.

And honestly? Not much has changed.

I've sat at professional gatherings where ordering a meal becomes an interrogation of every ingredient, every oil, every possible contamination.

I didn't want to become a person who couldn't go anywhere, do anything, or eat a meal without needing the pedigree of every ingredient on my plate.

There's no freedom in that.

Somewhere along the way, the health world did something profound to our collective psyche around food.

Are some foods more supportive than others? Of course.

Are some foods more toxic than others? Absolutely.

But we're talking about something bigger.

Most people I meet have some kind of fear, confusion, guilt, or obsession around food.

Someone tells them a food is healthy, but they eat it and feel terrible.

Someone else tells them a food is harmful, but they eat it and feel completely fine.

Then come the endless questions.

Should I avoid eggs?

Should I do AIP?

Low histamine?

Low oxalate?

Does this food feed Epstein-Barr?

Will that food worsen Lyme?

Is this making my Hashimoto's worse?

The truth is that food does not exist in isolation.

It exists within a living, breathing human being.

A body with organs, blood, qi, essence, emotions, history, stress, and resilience.

A body constantly communicating.

This is why I created **Be Nourished**.

Not another list of things to fear.

But a path toward understanding what it means to be a vital human being eating food in the modern world.

Why do so many dietitians want you to “stay full longer"

Even the wording suggests a fear of not a staying full!!

The whole food conversation is fraught with this lack mentality, constant suggestion that you won't know what to do if you get hungry

This might be the biggest issue we have with food…

Not the food itself…
The way we keep talking about it
Thinking about it
Classifying it

There is no connection, it's just an adversarial thing…your mind against the food..

SMH
This isn't aliveness and food is part of true aliveness

Food is
Energy
Language
Play
Divine blessing
Lifeforce building

I don't see anything in that list to fear…

Lets have a different food conversation, one that is empowered, partnered, free, and aligned with the Divine in food and in us

Qi gong butt!!

My 21 year old daughter says to me today

Lol, I said nope! Just qi gong

So, here's the thing
I have had trainers say
“You must lift to get strong” 💪

But qi is strength 💪

With qi gong, your muscles get stronger, so do your organs, cells, qi...workouts don't do all of that!

Plus we are building blood, stamina, and kidney which are the tools of a long life

We are building beyond the limits of the physical
