Someone recently reached out to me with imaging results that showed their body was holding onto heat. They also told me that a practitioner they had seen suggested a high-fat, low-carb diet.
The first thing I said was, "You may want to reconsider that diet."
Why?
Because they're showing signs of hot inflammation. When the body is in a phase of hot inflammation, it needs renewal. It needs cooling. It needs the heat to be decreased.
Fats are an incredible source of energy, but they are also energetically warming. When we eat large amounts of fat, we're increasing the body's overall heat. In someone already experiencing hot inflammation, that can be a real detriment because we may accidentally propel the inflammatory process even further.
This is why understanding food beyond its nutrient components or its macros is so important.
Many people don't realize that much of modern dietary dogma can fuel discord in the body. Not because certain foods are "bad" and others are "good," but because very little intelligence is being applied to the relationship between the body, the food, the energetic nature of that food, and the condition of the body itself.
Everything our body does is giving us clues about what needs to happen next.
Yet so often food is approached through rigid ideas:
"Our ancestors never ate this."
"People who live the longest eat that."
"These foods spike insulin."
"Those foods spike glucose."
"These foods are inflammatory."
"Those foods are healing."
Much of it is being applied with great amounts of dogma and very little wisdom.
The reality is far more complex.
And honestly, far more interesting.
Because food is a language given to us by the Divine. It is a way of speaking directly to the essence of who we are and nourishing our physicality. Different foods do different things. Different bodies need different things. Each of us carries a unique template, and what nourishes one person may not nourish another.
This is where the intelligence of being nourished comes in.
Be Nourished is not another diet for you to follow.
It is a revolution in the way we approach nourishment. It is learning to apply wisdom, intelligence, and partnership with your own body.

And after decades in medicine, what I've found is that there is an art to working with food in a compassionate, intelligent partnership with the body.
When we do that, we can achieve far more.
That is what Be Nourished is about.
