Yesterday, we celebrated two outstanding Albertina Kerr team members at the ORA - Oregon Resource Association Northwest Conference on Disability Services!

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗥𝗔’𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, recognizing their dedication to the people they support.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗲, 𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀, builds strong teams and helps staff excel in their roles. 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮, 𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗿'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, works with community partners to create meaningful volunteer opportunities based on each person’s interests and abilities.

Their work reflects what matters most: building relationships, respecting individual choices, and creating opportunities for people to connect with their communities.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮! We're lucky to have you on the Kerr team! 💙

Recently, participants in Albertina Kerr’s UpSkills program volunteered at Sunshine Division, putting their skills to work while giving back to the community.

Their contributions didn’t go unnoticed! Sunshine Division’s local director praised the group for their attention to detail, thoughtful ideas, and commitment to doing a great job.

In recognition of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 (𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗠), we’re celebrating the value and talent people with disabilities bring to the workplace.

Soren has a way of making people feel welcome. At Seed to Table Oregon, that strength has opened the door to new responsibilities. Now, he’s gaining retail experience at Habitat for Humanity 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 while working toward his next goal: a year-round retail job.

Making a difference, one blanket at a time! 🧵✨ A group from Kerr's Inclusive Day Services spent time volunteering at Project Lemonade, helping with blanket quality control and assembly. It was a great opportunity to support the work that Project Lemonade does in our community.

Today is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to talk more openly about mental health and how we support one another.

At Kerr, we see how much it means for young people and their families to find care that understands the whole person.

By challenging stigma, we can help more people feel comfortable seeking support.

Sometimes that support is professional care. Sometimes it’s checking in and taking time to listen. Both matter. 💙

Taking inventory, making stock lists, using a price gun. Participants in Kerr’s Upskills program recently put their reading, writing, counting, and problem-solving skills into practice at Habitat for Humanity Portland Region ReStores.

Opportunities to put skills to work are part of the conversation every October during 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 (𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗠).

This year’s theme, “𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁,” recognizes the contributions of workers with disabilities and reminds us to address the barriers that limit access to employment.

At Kerr, we support people in building skills, exploring their interests, and pursuing their employment goals. For employers, expanding opportunities means recognizing that talent, making hiring accessible, and supporting employees in doing their best work.
