Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is now being re-classified to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).

This updated terminology aims to encourage deeper conversations about the condition and the many ways it can affect a person’s health. "For too long, PCOS has been reduced from a complex, long-term hormonal/endocrine disorder to a misunderstanding about ‘cysts’ and a focus on ovaries. This contributed to missed diagnoses and inadequate treatment."*

We hope this shift helps foster more meaningful discussions between patients and providers about how lifestyle modifications, medications, and other therapies can work together to help manage PMOS symptoms and improve overall health.
