📌 SAVE THIS if your baby is refusing a bottle- especially if you’re heading back to work.
Bottle refusal is one of the most stressful things I see families go through. You’ve done everything “right” and your baby just... won’t. take. it.
A few things I want you to know:
First-taste is usually NOT the reason. Before you go down the high lipase rabbit hole, try offering fresh milk. If baby refuses fresh milk too, it’s almost certainly not about the taste at all.
If baby takes fresh but not stored, try mixing the two, this often makes it tolerable. If you’ve truly confirmed high lipase (it smells soapy, metallic, or rancid- you’ll know), scalding before freezing stops the enzyme process. This must be done BEFORE freezing, not after.
Second- movement helps. Bouncing, rocking and walking, but any rhythmic movement that regulates your baby can make a big difference.
Third- who offers it matters, but it might surprise you. Some babies actually do best with mom- they feel safest with her. Others do better with a partner or caregiver. There’s no rule here. Experiment and see what works for your baby.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. 💛
